Did You Ever Mishear Or Misread Something When You Were A Small Child?

Discussion in 'Other Reminiscences' started by Janice Martin, May 7, 2016.

  1. When I was a little kid, probably in Kindergarten or thereabouts, I liked a t.v. show called "Have Gun, Will Travel." Actually it was the theme song I liked, and the way the business card was shown at the start of each episode.
It's on a retro channel these days, I don't watch it, but after all these years/decades it occurred to me why I gave one of our cats such a weird name- I named him "Wire," because I thought the main character on the show (going by the business card) was named WIRE PALADIN. :p:p:p

    I misread and mis-hear things NOW ! :p
I was told recently a new fella was moving in next door to me, she said his name was 'Stirrup'
    Stirrup ! says I - that's a strange name ...............
No - Stewart, says she ....................
My favourite is from a little boy saying the Lords prayer and he says
'Our Lord who is in Heaven - Harold be thy name' ..............

Just kills me, aching ribs from laughing :D

Had an old fishing buddy from Oklahoma, on the okl. Texas border. Once he told me he used anise oil on his bait. Until then, I had never heard of anise oil. Only, he said it like 'anisol'. Took me awhile to figure out what he meant.
