In the Uk we use a word very casually...it just means you're calling someone stupid... or if you do something silly yourself you would just call yourself it... it's not deemed in any way to be a swear word.. and in the years I've been a member of predominately American forums I've had to be careful not to use it since learning it's offensive to Americans...

It's a word that's used here by just about everyone on a regular basis...

It's a four letter word beginning and ending with T......I use it every day ..

...if i do something silly or accidental..I'll call myself it...

Here's an example... (albeit a little long)

Might be in India since they worship cows.

Hindus don’t worship cows. We respect, honour and adore the cow. By honouring this gentle animal, who gives more than she takes, we honour all creatures.
Hindus regard all living creatures as sacred – mammals, fishes, birds and more. We acknowledge this reverence for life in our special affection for the cow. At festivals we decorate and honour her, but we do not worship her in the sense that we worship the Deity.
To the Hindu, the cow symbolizes all other creatures. The cow is a symbol of the Earth, the nourisher, the ever-giving, undemanding provider. The cow represents life and the sustenance of life. The cow is so generous, taking nothing but water, grass and grain. It gives and gives and gives of its milk, as does the liberated soul give of his spiritual knowledge. The cow is so vital to life, the virtual sustainer of life, for many humans. The cow is a symbol of grace and abundance. Veneration of the cow instils in Hindus the virtues of gentleness, receptivity and connectedness with nature.

In my opinion...everything you have said here is worship of a cow.

I think it's the same principal as Catholics honoring Mary, the mother of Jesus. They pray to her. Some people say that Catholics worship Mary which they say is not appropriate. But, as I see it, they ask Mary to intercede with Jesus (And God) because, as his Mother, she will have direct access to Him.

I actually dressed as the 'Village Idiot' once for a fancy dress party in the UK.
Handkerchief hat, wellies on the wrong feet, sweater/white shirt and shorts.
    Had a 'Grand Time'.
wink wink nudge nudge say no more...

We use twit here, Ive never heard goose unless it's prefaced by silly. You're a silly goose.

There is another 4 letter t word that's not so nice...it's twit but with an A. It's not as bad as the C word though.
