Never had that. If cantaloupe is sweet and juicy I don't need nothing extra.:D

You mentioned cantaloupe and I recalled having that as a kid...either 1/2 or 1/4 of one using the fruit as a bowl. I don't think I ever did that as an adult...but I do like salt on it. Same with watermelon.

Cantalope season is April thru November. Yea! As a kid would only eat watermelon. Luckily tatse buds change as we mature:p
Correction..guess it depends on where you live for in season fruits and melons.

It's funny how international trade has pretty much eradicated seasons for fruits and veggies, except for a few: peaches, corn on the cob, melons, perhaps some others. Or maybe it's modern storage techniques (warehouses full of gases) that has done this. Or perhaps both.

And I agree regarding taste buds.

I had success with 'lopes as well as tomatoes and sweet corn. Burpee seeds. Other seeds were disappointing.

Other garden items, no success, regardless of seed brand.

So I grew only the three items above for years, but eventually the tomatoes developed a wilt, perhaps verticillium or fusarium, despite practicing strict crop rotation.

That ended veggie gardening for me.
