Sorry to hear this, and on his birthday makes it seem sadder. A true country great. from TMZ website: Country music legend Merle Haggard has died after battling double pneumonia ... according to his manager. Haggard was diagnosed with pneumonia last year and spent 11 days at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage early this year. He died at home near Redding, CA on Wednesday morning. He'd been battling back from the illness and even scheduled a string of concert dates with his pal Willie Nelson. They released an album, "Django and Jimmie" last year. But last week Haggard canceled his shows for the month of April due to his continuing efforts to recover. His manager tells us Merle was weary from battling pneumonia for so long ... and had even predicted to friends he would die on his birthday. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994. Merle turned 79 today. http://www.tmz.com/#ixzz454f8hHIX
in the 60's , during the Nam war he was about as popular with the hippie crowd as a turd in a swimming pool but he gave them his protest song
This is indeed sad news, and Merle Haggard has always been one of my most favorite singers, too. Offhand, I can't think of any of Merle's songs that I didn't like; but being the hopeles romantic that I am, this one has always been my most beloved Merle Haggard song of all......... Diana.
That would be Ken's email, @Gary Ridenour . I asume that you are talking about an email notice that has something to do with this forum ?
Here's one of my favourite YT videos where Merle is singing a medley of 3 of my very favourite songs...
