When expressing extreme anger, frustration, or disgust, we tend to use swear words to give more strength to our feelings.

This can be done without offending the reader by using Vowel Substitution.

For example, we can say "He just doesn't seem to give a shot", by substituting the vowel O for I.

Similarly, we can tell him to "Go fack himself", by substituting the vowel A for U.

Do you think this may be useful, or do you think it's bullshut?

I think it's useful for getting around policies that some sites will give you the boot for using bad language.

Somehow the rationale doesn’t click with me.
If someone uses the initials or even substitutes a letter it still means the exact same thing. I mean, it’s not like no one knows what those words are and although somewhat coded, the real words do appear in the brain and should be just as offensive to someone who abhors cursing.

As an example, if I were one to be offended by such things, there are many times when Hal has tried to code in a few uh....colorful words in reference to me, but alas, they were for naught and a tremendous waste of time.

In normal conversation however, I vehemently dislike distorting the English language to such a degree as to lose the essence of what the conversation is really about. Whether it’s spelled out, placed in initials or dot dot dash dashed it a waste of what could be a good conversation.

The English language is a wonderful language and to me, it’s only those who do not know how to use it properly who seriously need to use off color language.
That is, unless of course one slams his fingers in a door and then all the ears need to be closed because all types of verbiage is allowed.

Edit and Note: No matter what my beliefs were or are, I was raised in an era when men NEVER cursed around the ladies no matter the situation. Alas, nowadays I hear more from the women walking down the street and talking on their cell phones than I ever uttered around a woman.
And no.....they do not “code” in their words which even if they did, I’d still interpret the words to mean their cussing counterpart.

I think the intent is the same, so why bother? (Incidentally, I am a world-class foul mouth, so I use considerable restraint in some posts. :D)

More not than often I will use phases such 'aw get out' or 'dag nam it' and others usually when I'm not angry though. I get tickled by it when I do. I'm sure others would find it funny too if I choose to write these in my conversations of text.

A “tirade” would indicate that there was some extremely harsh and angry criticism which was, in word and deed, non-existent.
If you read it as it is and rather stoically at that, you might find my observations accurate.

I need to have a tirade. Then maybe pull my avatar and sulk. That'll show 'em. :p

Hmmm......No, that’s a hissy fit. According to the book, a tirade does not give one an excuse to pull the avatar and sulk. Pg. 131 sec 4 para 17
However, if you wish to throw a tantrum, you can pull your avatar, sulk AND eat chocolate.

Dang. (See what I did there? :D) I hate it when the manual is referenced.
