I don't know if you folks have stores who compete at Christmas for the best holiday advert or commercials...but we do...and they are usually all cosy and cuddly...and wonderfully made, like little movies..

This year tho' one of our stores ( a frozen food giant)...had their Advert banned before it even reached the public... and it will never be shown.

What do you think...should it have gone out or not ?.. I hope you can see it..

regardless of the Ban here I feel it's important this should be shared to as many people as possible..

    A little gritty for Christmas.

IMO we have much worse more in your face commercials about endangered species animal cruelty etc... that air on a regular basis.

It will probably make a greater impact at far less cost because it was banned.

I could see it @Holly Saunders. At Christmas time all I see is adverts for toys and other gift ideas. And then during most of the year there are adverts to help save the pet population, etc. but I don't remember seeing anything like your movie advert.

    Dunno.
On one hand, it’s probably the best eco ad I have ever seen.
Now the question remains, “is it a good ad for the Christmas season?”

During this time of year, the only thing we see are ads which are capitalistic in nature. One product against another product, one store against another store and all vying for the last buck.
Maybe an ad that poses as a wake up call wouldn’t be that bad but I can definitely see how the more commercial interests would be against it.

A coin toss to be sure.........]

First of all, it seems a bit lengthy and repetitive thus lacking precisely what an effective commercial does: condensing information and cutting a message right to the chase ideally in a humorous or other way that sticks in the mind. That commercial is more like an infomercial focussing on the company's corporate social responsibility and, to some extent, it holds a mirror up to its customers which, I feel, they may not like as a Christmas message.

Customers may have different expectations and, if at all, prefer short and crisp advertising spots about a particular product. They don't get it here. I think the company has done itself a favor by withdrawing the spot.

But there’s the rub. The company didn’t withdraw but instead, the ad was, from my understanding, banned.
I do like your thought process for indeed, it was not an ad so much as an infomercial, but still, should it have been banned?

Exactly Bobby,.... it was Banned @Thomas Stearn ... not withdrawn. I feel perhaps it's wrong for Christmas but to Ban it is absolutely wrong, so that's why I've decided to share as much as I can, because it's a message that needs to be told...

You're right, Bobby and Holly, I skated over that. Who banned it, actually? Is there an organisation with the power to do that? I just read in the caption: "too political".

I don't know anyone who gives cars as Christmas gifts. I guess I don't know anyone that wealthy who would presume to choose an automobile for someone else either. The Ford commercial that has a husband buying himself a pickup and his wife an SUV, then the wife chooses to take the pickup and left him with the vehicle he has picked for her.

I don't see what it has to do with Christmas. I don't see any reason to ban it but I wouldn't want to see it over and over all Christmas season long.

This ad raises a serious point but why do in the guise of a Christmas advert?
