I read somewhere that Mexico can do the same thing and it would result in a trade war.

Also read that in the long run, we'll get the money back in what it costs to take care of the illegals etc. it's going to be interesting how this all settles.

I read some comments somewhere...no more cheap Viagra, haha.

I think we have the advantage in a trade war. Currently, we buy more from Mexico than they buy from us, and much of what we buy could be easily produced or grown here.

While there is a need for some regulations, our regulations - state and federal - place U.S. growers at a huge disadvantage. For example, I know people who have the land and the desire to raise organic beef in northern Maine, but the state requires that it be inspected at the state's facilities in southern Maine, by which time it's no longer fresh when it goes to market, on top of the added expense. Yet, large factory-type beef operations are trusted to inspect their own product though the cattleman's associations.

I'm not worried, just throwing some of the things I've read or heard out there. :)

    @Janice Martin
Definitely oner of the more absurd statements of belief voiced by a clueless bureaucrat. Akin to Pelosi's proclamation that "we won't know the content of the Affordable Care Act until it's passed". How much more absurd can their remarks become, and is it just possible that such unacceptable rhetoric MIGHT just explain why Trump resides now in the White House?

I did a pretty quick study on Bachman and from what I have seen, she's no dummy. She does have some pretty strong views mainly in the realm of Christianity to the extent of even wanting Halloween banned but all in all she's pretty tight.
In light of the Mexican Food statement I have found a couple of other remarks of equal value bridging upon sarcastic satire.
If Will Rogers or Samuel Clements were to be in front of the media today, I fear they would garner the same half-truth which would portray them to be as addle brained as they make Michele out to be.

Of course, there are some things I do not care about her but to tell the truth they are so insignificant that they don't really merit any real discussion on my part.

I don't know if that's the case with the Michelle Bachmann quote because I didn't hear her say it, but liberals have made much of Donald Trump by taking things that were obvious jokes and pretending that he meant them seriously, and then trying to make him sound foolish or dangerous.

What did the so called "Space" program cost us and what did we get for our big bucks? When we are finished, we will have a wall.

I was pretty impressed hearing the 3 way conversation with Fox, and the one guy on our right was from Mexico. He is trying to become a citizen of the US and has been here awhile. He looked and talked very business like, can't remember his name. He was really for all that Trump is suggesting, and he says his homeland will benefit from it. He said the President is being hit with a lot of flack down there, which sure makes sense he would be.

I think if the President of Mexico can without getting knocked off he will want to deal with the US. It just makes good sense to do that imo. Don't misunderstand, the man didn't knock his homeland, he was just stunned at some of the things Mexico is balking on. I also heard Trump was the first to bring up cancelling the meeting with the Pres. of Mexico, but he only said "maybe we should cancel". Then the President of Mexico did cancel.

Totally right, why shouldn't we be willing to help pay for something really important to us. Not that science and exploration has no importance but priority-wise.

I hope and pray a lot of those regulations can be at least trimmed down for our farmers and ranchers. Seems like the typical shopper doesn't pay much attention to "where" something is made, or produced, or, all the steps it took just to get it to us:(

Produce wise I think California can produce a lot of it and does but for things like bananas and such.

In relation to being "knocked off", the Mexican president was pretty much financed by a couple of the cartels when he first ran. That, in addition to a 14% favorability rating has him on the ropes.
Whether by vote or lead poisoning I do not believe he will be president for another term.

I got the feeling he is really between a rock and a hard spot. Maybe he better try to seek sanctuary over here before they put a wall up.

@Ina I. Wonder, I think that's a fake news meme. I have seen several memes and articles about Mexico's southern border wall, but I don't think they have one. Mexico does have far stronger emigration policies than we have, however.

Guatamalans are often among the folks caught sneaking into the States from Mexico into Arizona. If the Guatamalan wall exists, it's not too effective.
