I wouldn't jump to conclusions here. Unfortunately, this is often the case. This list of patents all allegedly referring to Sars-CoV-2 was first published on USA Hitman, then on Facebook and on other platforms. Attenuated viruses will have to be patented so that they can be sold to those who can make a desperately needed vaccine. That's common practice. It does not mean that the virus must have been cultivated. Due to their evolutionary strategy, viruses keep constantly changing. They don't need man to change them. Patented viruses are natural. The mere patent number for a "coronavirus" is not sufficiently conclusive since there are a number of different coronaviruses. A patent is always case-specific, i.e., the precise variant SARS-CoV-2 would be stated on a patent. Those patents apply to the viral strains of SARS and MERS. What is also missing is the "B" at the end of a patent number indicating that this patent has really been granted. Some patents are just applied for but will not necessarily be granted. The "A1" behind the number for swine flu, etc., indicaes that this patent has just been applied for but has not been granted. There is a patent on an attenuated coronavirus (but not Sars-CoV-2) which has been granted to help make a vaccine against infectious bronchitis. So, a lot more detailed information is needed before certain conclusions can be drawn.

Interesting article. The study sounds like a good idea to me. I've been saying all along, if they really want to get a handle on the prevalence of this virus they need to take a random sample of people and give them tests, rather than just give it to those who have symptoms. Just giving the test to those with symptoms gives some, who don't know how to interpret the data, the impression that the virus is more prevalent than it probably is. And it likely has to be done more than once with follow-ups. Doing this on a large enough scale to give meaningful data, would only be feasible with home tests. The program was operating under authorization from the state. Officials with the FDA told them to discontinue patient testing and return of diagnostic results to patients until proper authorization is obtained. Hey, wait a minute. I thought the states were on their own in the testing. Did that change? Again? LOL "The delay is the latest evidence of how a splintered national effort to develop, distribute and ramp up testing has left federal regulators struggling to keep up."
