There's a beach over on the Atlantic side we used to go to. There was always a layer of tiny shells and when the waves receded, the shells would make a tinkling sound, like fairy music.

It was especially great at night when all was quiet except for the swish...tinkle...tinkle...swish.

I've spent some time on the Atlantic beaches. It was a treat to go to the gulf side of Florida and find intact shells instead of broken up fragments.

And I, too, recall that sound of tinkling shells.

If I remember correctly, it was Indialantic Beach, near Melbourne. My sister lived in the area at the time, so we went there a lot.

That was at least 30 years ago, mind you, so I can't guarantee that the beach is still the same. Hurricanes change the geography of beaches.

Any beach is magical to me. The sound and smell sooth my soul. After all, from the sea we came and to the sea some of us are trying to return. It's elemental.
