Atlas Shrugged is one of a very few cases where I recommend the movies over the book. Perhaps I wasn't in a good mood for it at the time, but I found the book to be long and tedious, although still fascinating. The movies, however, are much easier to follow, and I don't think that the essential points are lost. If you haven't seen Atlas Shrugged, I highly recommend you do so. Parts I, II, and III are available through Netflix, although in DVD format rather than streaming. You may be able to find it streaming, but I'm not sure. Since they were released one year apart, some of you may have watched one or two of them, but not the entire series. I recommend re-watching any that you have already seen and viewing the three parts of the movie consecutively.
I enjoyed the movie but probably not too popular with society now. I also like Ayn Rand who wrote the book the movie is based on.
For the most part, yes. It is in sharp contrast to the progressive thinking that is driving the world into a hole today. The movie didn't portray the philosophy as clearly or as completely as the book did, however, bu the movie was more interesting.
Yes it is. Personally I think Ayn was more kind than most do gooders today, She was more 'realistic'. A hand up is always healthier than a hand out.
Ed, here is a interview of Ayn in 1959,I am a Christian unlike Ayn who was agnostic at best. I do like her philosophy on the most part. I don't feel like most Christians understand much of scripture. We have to study the whole word not just what we are taught by most clergy.
I was busy earlier so wasn't clear on my message. Ayn was a genius and like many genius was also kind of nuts! She came here from Russia in 1926 because she loved our Constitution and Bill Of Rights. She idolized our founders and individual human rights. She saw a lot of suffering in her nation Russia and what communism does to a nation. It did affect her in many ways. Very interesting for those who like history and what communism can do to a nation,Lots of historical film and facts.
My favorite Rand quote, " You can ignore reality, but you can't ignore the consequences of ignoring that reality ". A.R.
I just may watch the movie again soon. Its one of those movies you wish you'd never seen so you could enjoy for the first time ,again.,if that makes sense.
