    Ken Anderson,

Indeed. Recently I went back to learning Italian; I guess I want to be polyglot. LOL

Me too. I think we get too much news or info.

Some folks say they like to "keep up" with the news. Sounds good to me but let's say I choose to get the days news from FOX and you get the same from MSNBC.

Are we getting the news regarding the same situation, different situations, same or different states? It's foolishness (IMHO) for either of us to say that we have the truth. What we end up with is most likely OUR preconceived version of the truth, only reinforced by our favorite news channel. Sad:(

True that. Even if you seek objectivity by viewing both Fox and MSNB, you might be hearing both sides, and that's to your credit, but the truth isn't necessarily something in between the two. Fox may be entirely right, MSNBC might be, or they could both be lying to us.

Since we do have the internet and access to a number of sources, the best thing is to listen, read, or watch a number of sources and decide what you can from the information available.

First, I'll decide if an issue is important enough to me that I want to bother with it, and there are fewer of these things than there were a few years ago. Then, I look at all the purported facts or theories that are available to me, looking for an answer that makes sense to me, usually the one that answers most of my questions without introducing unexplained contradictions. Generally, I'll accept that until something better comes along while realizing it isn't necessarily true, and keeping in mind that false conspiracy theories are often successful because they are designed to answer all of the questions.

    Dave Scott,

I believe you -both- get the news that each station wants you to hear....and you and the person chatting with you will have a nice discusiĆ³n over a cup of coffee. My point: We shouldn't give a piff about the news

    Good afternoon to all-
I enjoy and chase after new things and information even as I grow older. A big part of my work now is doing research on a wide range of different topics and then putting together articles for several magazines I work for. Of course, I have always enjoyed doing research- heck, writing research papers was my favorite academic effort in college, and I still enjoy digging and discovering things new to me now.

I expect to be like Captain Horatio Hornblower- learning things on my deathbed.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed
