Unfortunately, due to inner family problems, not all grandparents want to be around their grandkids that much or at all and visa/versa. A nice "wholesome" family is always nice to hear about Chrissy. That's something that doesn't happen nearly as much today as it use to.

I don't mean to give the impression that I have a perfect family but for the most part it runs smoothly and main thing is we really all do love each other.

I have one GKid left. She is 11...I keep her off and on and have never refused because one she has Aspergers...second she was sexually abused....note the word abused...by a very close family member.
She has never stayed with anyone else.
And this is not a problem for me anyway.
When my oldest had four kids and then lost four ....too many pg's... I told her then...2 at a time is all I am keeping !
There are times the word No should be used....without guilt.

Thought all of us on this forum are nice people. Well, most of the time anyway.

Overall it has been my experience that men do not have as hard a time saying "No" as women do. And they don't seem to wrestle with "guilt" for having to say that word either. :)

Oh I always made a rod for my own back saying yes to everything no matter how difficult a situation it was going to put me in, especially at work..that's gone now because I've been retired 6 weeks..so no more of that!!

I can't ever say No to my daughter, and only sometimes do I say it to my husband but not very often because he really never asks for anything of me... ..I am the one who offers to do things for him, so when on the odd occasion he does ask, I am very willing to help out whenever I can

DD and O/H and work aside, I used to be taken advantage of right and left particularly by my sisters and brothers as well as friends due to my inability to say No....so I learned eventually just to say it...and people got upset because I'd always done or provided for them, but enough eventually got to be enough.

I'm the type of person who gives everyone more chances than they deserve especially when I don't get treated respectfully in return, so I ended up being manipulated easily but when the OFF switch turns in my brain, then that's it...no more... and I find it easy then to just say NO... and I never change my mind once I've made that decision!!

What gives you the right to say no to her at all? She is a grown woman with the right to make up her own mind. No man has a right to say no to her.

I have a hard time saying "no" to the opposite sex for reasons I won't go into but I have learned to say "no" to others at times. Actually I am more of a "yes" person or too nice. It's a goal of mine to not be too nice!

This was what I was wondering about. Were you joking about this statement or serious?
