We've been reading the trials and tribulations. It stinks when finding parts is almost as much work as installing them.

When I had my '59 Austin Healey, JC Whitney was my friend...and I was theirs ;)

JC Whitney was a real disappointment to me for the most part. The head gasket for my Mercedes 190 SL was cut a bit skimpy on the sides and poor quality. I did get a few parts for my 55 Chevy that worked out.

When I bought my Austin Healey, my first JC Whitney order was almost as much as I paid for the car. The high dollar item was the rag top for it...it came with the factory hardtop but no convertible.

So true John, times have really changed from back in the day. Just not sure that it's for the better.

At least ir was a luxury car, but parts are ridiculous for these old autos now. He paid $600.00 for a carburetor for that old truck! He has almost redone the whole truck, it was a Craigs list thing for $500.00.
He figured no big deal he can just fix it up, well it hasn't been that easy.

Marie, just to let you know, my wife and I have had disagreements about us buying a newer Dodge Durango, with engine big enough to pull our boat, or keep the one we have and just have a rebuilt/remanufactured engine put in. Of course, the rebuilt/remanufactured engine won't solve any computer/electronic or transmission problems that may occur, but.........no down payment on a newer vehicle and no monthly payments.

We'd also have a factory-trained mechanic install the engine.

That is awesome, @Jake Smith ! My husband, @Bobby Cole , is also on the forum, and we have been the only couple on the forum together for a while now.
It is great to have another team on board, and Bobby has given up on trying to keep me in line, I think.

That's always the problem. You never know when to stop throwing dollars at a vehicle, nor do you know what kind of money pit you may (or may not) be buying...nor does whoever buys your vehicle know what a mess they may (or may not) be getting into.
