If you want something to puzzle over that's not really a conspiracy theory, but a fact that could change your view of history. There's a Turkish map discovered in 1929 called the Piri Reis map that was made in the 1500's and shows a detailed view of the East Coast of North and South America and, here's the kicker, it shows the Northern Coast of Antarctica with NO ICE 300 years before Antarctica was officially discovered!

    Here's a synopsis -

I find these types of things so fascinating. While I don't believe in "aliens", I am left wondering, in this case, how is it possible that map makers from the 1500s knew about Antarctica and North and South America? Similarly, they've found ancient carvings in places like South America and Africa that show very similar images of men with round domes over their heads. How would these people, who had no way of communicating, draw such similar pictures of "their gods"?

To me, these things fall under the category of "I don't believe, but I also don't NOT believe" - if that makes sense.

I understand the "don't believe, but I also don't Not believe" thought on many things that we can not explain. That thought I think is the basis for many of the "Star Trek" type shows. You know that as we progress in technology and accept more possiblities mentally we will see more and more things that we thought impossible at one time. On "Star Trek" the captain signed off his duty rooster on a tablet, that was more than 30 years ago, we looked at the device and said no way, now we all have tablets and cell phones.

I recently read a book about how the north coast of Australia appeared on maps and charts as part of an unknown land long before it was official discovered as a continent. It is clearly defined on two European maps of the world in the British Library. These date from in 1536-1547 and 1550. It is thought that Portugese sailors had charted it earlier in the century.

In the case of the Turkish map of Antartica, I don't think it has anything to do with aliens. The fact that the coastline appears as it did before it was covered in ice could be because it was charted thousands of years previously. Some form of map could have been etched onto an animal skin or carved on a stone tablet. This could have been used as the basis for later maps, and by the 1500s it was accepted that there was such a land to the south and that it had a coastline which looked like it was pictured originally.

I think we have to accept that ancient sailors were able to navigate to all parts of the world and tp give them credit for knowing about 'undiscovered' lands thousands of years before these were officially charted and colonized those that were inhabitable. We know that homo sapiens originated in Africa and early man must have been able to reach distant parts of the world from there in their boats and ships.

I think that there is a lot of our history that may be different than what we have been taught in school, or read in history books. Pretty much, none of us want to believe that there were visitors here from other worlds, or that they might even be here right now. We are indoctrinated with the views of the past that we have learned, whether we believe in creation or evolution.
This world has certainly been here long enough to have had past civilizations that have died out, and there is quite a bit of evidence that we have had polar shifts, which would change the parts of the world that are covered in ice.
Another interesting thing about this map is that it was so accurate, and done so very long ago, when even now, we have ice-breaker ships being stuck in the ocean near Antarctica. It was not that long ago that there were several of them stuck, as they all tried to help the first one, which was a research ship and knew what they were heading into.

I couldn't get the video to run for some reason. But, this map always gave me the suspicion there was an ancient civilization that spanned the globe. There are a lot of books out there touting that view including (from memory) - Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings - and multiple books by Graham Hancock. I also think that a lot of the information about this civilization was housed in the Library at Alexandria before it was destroyed. Some maps and other documents might have been saved. I've also read there was a sort of back-up library created by the Romans. Some of the documents probably moved to Constantinople with the Byzantines and then fell into the hands of the Turks after they invaded. That's my guess anyway.

I find it very interesting the things that people find from our ancient past. It would be astounding if we could uncover everything that has been left behind or destroyed in some way. I believe that our views on various things would change if we could recover them. We think we know it all but in reality we probably haven't even scratched the surface.

It certainly makes you wonder if some groups in the world don't have the information, held in secret, about ancient civilizations. There are more maps than just the Piri Reis that show advanced knowledge of cartography and the geography of the earth at a time it shouldn't have existed. Current science still has even come up with a good explanation of how the Pyramids were built.

If you want to have you're mind blown do some browsing through the videos by the guy who did the Atlantis video I posted in another thread. Using Google Earth he shows the various Pyramids and temple in ancient Egypt were set up on a grand plan. I'll let you investigate the findings. Incredible.

I have done a bit of research regarding the pyramids. From what I have seen I believe the most fascinating thing about the pyramids is that they are set up perfectly to align with certain star constellations. The precisions is uncanny and the only way to do this would be with technology or concepts that are believed to not have existed at that time.

Yes, the pyramids at Giza are set up to align with Orion's belt, but there are other pyramids and temples all up and down the Nile that set up to align with something else overall. It's very interesting. A similar thing is going on in the temple at Luxor. Here's a video that gives some background.

It is pretty fascinating to see things like this. It makes you wonder if they really did have technology that we simply do not know about. I lean towards the fact that it is highly improbable that these things are merely a coincidence. Being able to align these structures so perfectly must have required some sort of knowledge. Maybe this is me just wishful thinking though.
