I was just reading that Jeff Bezos also owns the Washington Post, which I did not know before. If we have discussed that here, I guess I just don't remember it.
Anyway, that started me wondering what else he owns, since he is close to being the richest man in the world. I found a list on Wikipedia, and it shows not only what companies he personally owns, but he also has a corporation that owns a whole lot more.
He actually has part ownership in Twitter, as well as a lot of apps that can be used on a Kindle or ipad. Aviary is one that I use all of the time for photo-editing, and I really like it.
Here is the list in case anyone else wants to see what all this man owns besides Amazon (and now Whole Foods).

I hate Walmart but the one in Bangor seems to be doing well because I can never find a place to park within a reasonable distance from their doors, which is one of the biggest reasons that I hate it. I have only tried to shop at Walmart's online store once. I don't remember what it was now but it was something that wouldn't fit into our car so I thought if I ordered it online, they'd deliver it. But no, they would deliver it to the store and I was supposed to pick it up there -- which of course, I couldn't do because it wouldn't fit into the car. Besides, if I was going to pick it up at the store, why wouldn't I simply buy it there?

We ordered our backyard swimming pool through Walmart because they were having a closeout on several models of pools, and this one was about half price. We had the option of buying it at the store, having it shipped to the store, or we had free shipping to our house since it was a more expensive item.
We could probably have fit it into the car; but it would have been difficult, and it was also very heavy; so we chose to get the free delivery option. it took several days; but it arrived just fine and was unloaded on a pallet.
When we have to go to Walmart, we always try to go early in the morning before it fills up its customers, and it is usually still hard to find a place to park that is close to the store.

The only small store around me other than the corner stop and shop is a little Mexican market. I can always find a parking slot, and I can run in and out in five minutes , or less. I love it! It's like the markets were when I was a child. It carries the food products that we use to expect too. It has no packaged meats, only what the butchers cut in front of you.

The place does have two sections I don't remember the old stores having though. A bakery where you can watch the bakers make their goods, and a steam table that provides really great soups, stews, roast beef and chicken, and the best pulled pork I've ever tried.

And of course, it's the best place to get REAL Mexican food. No more Tex-Mex takeout for me, I've become spoiled, and at half the price. :D

Good for both of you Bill, either way is being kind to each other. :)

I've set aside monies for the family, but I've decided to grow a bit selfish, and spend the rest on myself. :p Why not? Right? I admit, it's also fun to watch those that think I should just save it for them squirm. Guess I'm getting mean in my senior years. :D

New York Post has just announced that Jeff Bezos (CEO of Amazon) is now the richest man in the world. Shares in Amazon have gone up, while shares in Microsoft have dropped; putting Bill Gates at $89 billion dollars, and Bezos just ahead of him at $90 Billion dollars. Plus, they are saying once everything goes through with the deal of purchasing Whole Foods, Amazon shares are expected to double !
This is the time for anyone who is investing to think about buying Amazon stock, it looks like. An even better time would have been 20 years ago (not sure when Amazon actually started), and anyone who had done that would certainly be very rich by now.

It sounds like the deal between Amazon and Whole Foods has been finalized, and by next Monday, Amazon expects to start cutting the prices on some of the items at Whole Foods. They said that their goal is to make wholesome food available to everyone and affordable. Up until now, Whole Foods has not accepted food stamps, and probably most people on food stamps would not shop there anyway, simply because of the extravagant prices of food there.
Amazon also said that people can order from WF online and have it delivered with Prime Pantry, or one of the other food delivery options that Amazon offers.
They said that some of the grocery stores will also be pick-up and return locations, so if you do not want an item shipped to your home for some reason, or you need to return something, you can just do it right at the store.
