I am 86, served my National Service in the RAF but have never flown in an aircraft. Are there any other retarded oldies on SOC?
I am 84 and did my four years of service in the USAF. Have done lots of flying in both military and commercial air craft.
We have to fly to get anywhere here, so I fly thousands of miles every year, and I used to fly close to 100,000 miles every year.
Sorry Shirley, I should have used parochial. It must seem strange for people in vast country like America to never have flown, it's a bit like a horseless cowboy. It amazes me at the vast changes that have occurred during a lifetime. My grandmother never travelled more than fifteen miles from her village in the country and yet she was in charge of a small seamstress concern that made dresses for the elite of London.
Comparing fixed wing with rotary wing, I prefer flying rotary. Now, the ultimate flying experience doesn’t come from taking off and landing in an aircraft but what is far more preferable to me is taking off and jumping from them at a good height of around 12K to 18K feet.
Flying will stop in the next 12 years according to AOC and if you want to go to Hawaii you will have to go by train after they build the tunnel
