As we prepare to journey up to Colorado, where major forest fires are raging, we have been checking on air quality readings to try and decide where we should stay. We changed our plans, in a major way, because of some figures we saw on a site that appeared to be "official."

There is a HUGE problem, though: On the many "official" sites we've now been getting into, there is absolutely NO AGREEMENT on any of the figures we've viewed for the same city. Some rate the air as "Moderate," some as "Poor," others as "Hazardous." It's truly maddening, and would be funny, too, if not for the absolute fact that we're trusting our good health to these (apparently) meaningless stats!

It really shows, though, how far we need to go to get into truly scientific forecasting and reporting. Without agreement in figures for the same, exact town, on the same, exact date, this is all semi-educated guesswork, at best! It serves no great purpose......

    Science is dead.
It now only serves as a means to a predetermined end.

If they want to control the populace, they amp up the figures.
If the governor does not want to chase away tourists, they dial the numbers back.

    Truth is dead.

    ps; Enjoy your trip ;)
