A tragic thing happened yesterday to the son of a friend. He was hiking in local mountains with his girlfriend, but she was unable to keep up with him, so he left her seated by the side of the trail and continued up the difficult part of the trail, intending to return for her in less than an hour (I myself used to do such things when I was an avid hiker). When he didn't return for her after several hours, she hiked down to where she had cell reception and called his parents for help. Dad went searching and when he couldn't immediately locate him, called the Mountain Search and Rescue folks to help, along with the Alaska State Troopers. After several more hours of searching, his dad found his lifeless body at the base of the cliff and had to be rescued himself with the body of his son. The boy just graduated from high school last May.
So sorry to read this @Don Alaska .....I can't even begin to imagine their grief. He's about the same age as my oldest grandson...there are no words. I'm glad that they have you for a friend....hopefully you can help them deal with their loss... Again....my condolences to the family and friends ❤️
Oh no, what a terrible tragedy. Condolences to all his family and friends.. may he R.I.P... far too young!!
What a terrible tragedy, and such an awful thing for his father to have to find his own son that way. It is good that the girlfriend was along so that she was able to alert people to come and search for the missing boy. Adding our prayers to everyone elses, for help and comfort to this family as they go through this grief.
My heart goes out to his family. I hope you can help them deal with their grief. We all need someone to lean on at times like this.
