We as seniors, have been forunate to witness Space exploration from the beginning.
From the first manned flights in the 60's, to Skylab, Shuttles and now the ISS.

First time I saw the live feed, I put it on the big TV and played Gustav Holst "The Planets Suite".

Wonder what future decades will bring.

I remember John Glenn (very much my hero) the most, and the Challenger disaster in 86. We saw it on TV of course:( I'll never forget the astronauts marching out so happily excited. But I know we have also had such amazing successes.

I'm glad you have this up @joe because we sure don't hear about our people still stepping into the "outer spaces" of our world. That should always be front page. The way the world is going, people may actually need to live in space one day, won't they @Tim Burr

I actually DID learn something in Geography, remembered it all my life, for reason unknown, and this beautiful image brought it back: Look at any "flat-map" of North America, and Greenland appears to be as large in area as the United States. It is in reality only about 1/5 or so, as clearly seen in the image which is of a curved surface. Flat maps "stretch" things out of true proportion nearer the poles one gets. FWIW, which ain't much.
