According to Fitness Magazine, the ten healthiest foods on the planet, in order, are: lemons broccoli dark chocolate potatoes salmon walnuts avocados garlic spinach beans (beans, peas, lentils) That doesn't sound too difficult. I think I'll buy about thirty pounds of dark chocolate tonight and gorge my way into good health, and wash it all down with a lemonade.
I've never been much for potatoes, mainly because of the stuff that goes into or onto them. I always thought there wasn't much nutritional value to potatoes. Have I been misinformed? The rest of the items on that list are regulars in my daily diet. I also like to make up salads with lots of herbs in baby spinach.
I was surprised to find potatoes there too, but here is what it said, in the event that you haven't actually visited the site:
That looks like an interesting list, Ken. We eat all of those foods a lot, and I put lemon in the water when I have a glass of ice water, or carbonated water, as well. I love sweet potatoes, and they are supposed to be even more nutritious for us than regular potatoes are, and sweet potatoes are anti-inflammatory, whereas regular potatoes are in the nightshade family, and they are an inflammatory food. I also like baked potatoes, so I still have them; but I try to substitute either sweet potato or squash instead whenever possible. That chocolate which we all love so well is also listed as one of the aphrodesiac foods; so be sure to keep this fact in consideration when you are buying that thirty pounds of dark chocolate to munch on..... http://www.foxnews.com/health/2015/...your-bedroom-skills-up-notch/?intcmp=trending
Wasn't it Will Rogers who said, "I never met a Chocolate Bar I didn't like?" With the exception of walnuts and salmon, which are too expensive to buy here (import), I eat all of the other items frequently.
lemons lemon meringue pie broccoli broccoli with gobs of cheese sauce dark chocolate chocolate fudge, cake, or pie potatoes French fries with lots of catsup salmon salmon dip with cream cheese, chopped walnuts and chips walnuts see above avocados Guacamole with plenty of tortilla chips garlic lots of garlic in the spinach dip spinach see above beans beans or peas and cornbread Yep, sure seems healthy to me.
They missed one food I would add and that is the egg. when you think everything to produce a healthy chicken is in the egg nothing else is added so we have what we need to build a heat, lungs, brain, legs and more are in the egg.
Thanks for the information. :-D I eat most of those products. Garlic is very good for your health, but the odor is also terrible. Dark chocolate, but the "real one" without much sugar and all those dyes. That's why it's important to check the composition of the product.
Martin, I also agree that eggs are an excellent food to be on the list. After all, eggs are the supreme standard by which protein is measured. Every other protein source is compared to an egg to designate its value as a protein. Because of all of the hooplah about high cholesterol; eggs have been given a bad reputation, and they are just now (barely) coming around to admitting that the brain needs that cholesterol, and that is what fuels our brains. A lack of fuel for the brain is one of the main causes of brain malfunctions, such as Alzheimers, or other forms of dementia. Eating eggs is one of the best ways of preventing this disease which have been running rampant, especially in older people who are often prescribed statin drugs which lowers their cholesterol even further.
I like and eat all the items on the above Fitness List except for dark chocolate, must be light chocolate.
I like everything in the list. Unfortunately my wife doesn’t because of various food sensitivities and just plain being picky. Also, did you know… https://www.vox.com/xpress/2014/8/6/5974989/kale-cauliflower-cabbage-broccoli-same-plant
I am lucky to live here because a 20 minute drive there is two chocolate factories. You go there and you can have a tour through they are not large and give free samples. outside the factory is the trees growing right there. you can by raw chocolate or sweet, they also make wines of all type.
I like sweet potatoes too but my wife doesn't, so I have them maybe once or twice a year, usually at a restaurant.
