I will very briefly say that having been posting here and getting the best positive reception I could possibly have expected, I will reveal that I have sent a few PMs to folks who professed their "friendship" to me in a previous old-timers forum, and received no response forthwith.

I feel sorry for them. A forum does not, to me anyhow, represent any kind of blot on one's person, should they be viewed as undesirable by others. Just say, "We're in this thing together". Frank

I like to think of this Forum as a place where we can all be the "big kids" we are in our hearts, while still being the mature grownups we all are too! @Ken Anderson is a wonderful moderator who keeps us "big kids" from getting to rowdy while allowing us to grow and learn to share nicely with each other.;)

I yet to find a forum like this one. When I first started people were so nice to me, very welcoming. I had left for a while and kept thinking I need to go back and catch up and see what has been happening. Hi Babs, I agree with you, coming here is like a playground for grown-ups, where everyone has had an adventure of some kind. Remembering all the things we did when we were young. The topics they one can pick from, they are endless. Sure I go on Facebook, but there is really no one you can talk to, share anything with, yes they have games, and one can play these games for so long. One thing I don't care of going on their chat, is that they are always fighting with one another, bullying others, it's like little kids who don't know how to get along with one another. And this was when I said I need to good people, who get along, and are friendly. ;)

I like this forum a whole lot. I learn and make new acquaintances and have lots of fun too. It's so funny that no matter where we live we got the same thing in life everywhere! It's nice to know that there are many nice people all over the world who are Senior Citizens. Sometimes you ride the bus when school is just let out and you see all the young ones catching the bus with you and you go to this forum and feel safe again!

    Good Morning Krissttina,
That's another reason why I like this forum, we all get along, unlike other places where there is so much hate among each other. Another thing I like to hear about different cultures, since I don't get to travel to other countries. I never pictured me as a Senior Citizen, I always refused to get older or should I say mature :D. I understand what you're talking about, kids now a days have no respect for others. (I know not all kids are like that), but the ones I've seen, all I can say is wow, they eat with that mouth. Every other words is a cuss word. And this is another reason I enjoy this forum. I look back when I was growing up, where we were not allowed to talk back, and to respect our elders, too bad kids now a days can't do the same. I agree with you coming into these forum is like a safe house.

I've left the other forum. Will not be going back. This one is better.

    @Kitty Carmel

Hmm, I wonder if I knew you there? I left due to a swift boot in the rear, and surely hope your own exit was less, er,.......mentally stimulating!

I joined this forum to lure my husband because he is the real senior between us (he's 61 now and I'm 53). But he's not really fond of this kind of website so I lingered and later on got to like the topics maybe because I have something to contribute. With some members here, I remember them but I don't remember getting PMs since conversing in the threads would be enough bonding. It's ironic though that I received PMs from 2 friends here in the other forums.

I'm getting curious about that other forum where there is hate. Maybe there are bullies around?

I'm a veteran of many forums. This is by far the best one. I was on a small, local forum for awhile. Things tended to get pretty hot and heavy there over politics. One irate poster offered $50 to anyone who could tell him my name. I guess no one could or did.
Another forum had lots of posters from all over the world. Many of them were anti-American. Things often got pretty unpleasant.
Lately, I get all the political action I want on a couple local newspaper and TV news sites. I'm an avid liberal baiter.:D

Hi Frank, I don't think I got the boot. Just tired of some of the posts and people. And then in the end there was one individual who posted some, in my opinion, strange and twisted responses to some posts I made. I had it and quietly didn't go back.

I was in a seniors chat forum that I used to love. Anyway, I have become personna non grata there for reasons I don't fully understand. It is hurtful when you spend a great deal of time on a site only to be as welcome as the plague. However, I might continue there just to spite them..:p Anyway, this forum is nice. It is probably best not to comment on topics you are not in agreement with though. You can't expect everyone to share your opinions.

I've been on many senior forums and have been banned from a few. The one Frank is talking about banned me at least 5 times since I always came back with an alias which of course is against the rules.

Usually when I traveled somewhere else and had a different IP, I would sign up and last til I got home. I've had opportunities to join there again but it's gone so off track there that I wouldn't join even if I was given amnesty.

I hope I'm not breaking the rules here by saying I was banned here also awhile ago. I have to learn to stay away from topics that upset me and so far I'm doing okay. :)

Although I was angry with Ken about being banned and even sent him some nasty emails, he is the only forum admin that was kind enough to let me back at a very low point in my life.

I was on a small forum and two days after my mom died someone accused me of something I didn't do. That was not the time to attack me. Most of us have been nasty at some point in our forum careers, either on the board or behind the scenes but this was different. I was grieving and the shock of this persons words made me physically ill.
Even if I was at fault it was not the time to bother me. Anyway, I left that forum and needed something and I reached out and without any questions I was taken back. People that I hurt on here before welcomed me.

I am very done with any drama on forums. I have let go of all hurts from others in the past and I hope they all also accept my apologies. Still can't forgive the one person but maybe with enough time I will.

Hope nobody is offended by my words but it is my truth.
