This thread is for pictures that we want to share of our home, yard, garden, or any other feature that we enjoy. The pictures do not have to be perfectly compossed, just a place to share a picture when you want to. To start out the thread, here is a picture of our front deck that I took today. The colors are just a little enhanced because the original picture turned out too dark, and I had fun editing it.
yvonne I envy your green thumb. I am not that adept at growing things. What a peaceful place that seems to be. I think the word for you porch is comfortable.
@Chris Ladewig , I went to visit Yvonne and Bobby shortly after Bobby built they're cozy porch, and the intricacy of Bobby's work shows his love of wood working. Although they're yard has a lot of shade, Yvonne seems to be able to find the correct thing to grow in whatever condition. That woman is always busy growing something or learning how to. I recently sent her some of my moon flower seeds that came from the vines I grow on my fences. I can't wait to see where she ends up growing them. Hopefully she'll post some pictures when they bloom, which will be difficult because they only bloom at dusk and night time.
@Ken N Louis , your place is beautiful. How many acres do you care for? I hope all the rains were have this year isn't giving you too much trouble. Stay safe.
I have planted some of the seeds in several different places around the house and porch. I saw at least one of the seeds has sprouted; so now I need to look and see if others have also started growing. Some will get more sun than others, because of the trees all around; but hopefully even the ones with more shade will be able to survive and blossom. Then I can save more seeds this fall, and some should re-seed themselves, and eventually, I will have lots of moonflowers, just like you have, @Ina I. Wonder . I think that moonflowers are one of the most beautiful flowers, they are just so delicate and glossy that they look not quite real, almost ethereal actually. Thank you again for gifting me with the moonflower seeds, my Friend. I will definitely be taking pictures when they start to blossom ! Here is a picture of one from last year when I only had a few blossoms.
The the tall leafy ones I planted last year. They must have spread because I only remember buying four from Jen at the flea market. I'm going to transplant some because they hide my irises. That little red strawberry is new - don't know where that came from. I call this is my urban country setting. You can also see how the vacant house next door is overgrown mostly with honeysuckle trees. I don't mind the honeysuckle but they have grown so high that it looks like a forest. The squirrels have a good time hopping from limb to limb when it suits them.
@Von Jones , it looks like you will be spending some enjoyable time gardening. I do miss it, but maybe by next years I can get back to mine. This year I'm just trying to keep my 2/3 of an acre from coming overgrown. Keep the pictures coming, I love watching the progress of designing a personal garden space.
Thank you @Ina I. Wonder. The nice thing about my garden is the flowers will be blooming at different times. You'll notice that I have laid a lot of rocks to prevent to squirrels from digging up the roots. One picture shows where I had place a rock on top of a piece of wire because the squirrels had started digging up the cannas that I had planted. I am on the look out every day because of those squirrels.
Von your garden is really lovely. You can tell you spend alot of time making it that way. It looks like a place where you could just sit and relax so pretty.
