I grew up in New York; went to school in Milwaukee. When I got to Wisconsin, I felt like a salmon coming home. About all that would make me leave the state would be overcrowding. I socialize with my friends, help out where I can and do what I want. But If I did move elsewhere, that would probably be what I would do there too.
Making friends involves getting out and probably into a hobby that can be shared, or other type of group. If nobody liked me, I would have to think about it and take up gardening. But I am too old to worry about it.
Location is not always the answer to friendliness.

I moved to a rural area from the Washington DC region. After I moved here, on nice summer nights, I would turn off the tv and go out for a drive...because I could actually drive. Suddenly there was pleasure in being behind the wheel again.

We seen the very same thing on our driving trip to Sheridan, Wyoming and when we drove to Dodge City, Kansas. Found out that Sheridan just gets to cold for us and Dodge City isn't the same Dodge City it was years ago.

It is very nice being able to go somewhere and not be caught up in city lites, noise, cars, and etc. At night it is too dark to drive out of town here, no street lights, on winding curvy roads.

But, there are some places that will try very hard to stay the same.

Since we have never lived outside of a city, big or small, city lites, cars, etc., we are really use to. We like having a Walmart close, a movie theater and a few other things. Also, we could never afford to buy property/house out in the "sticks" and, most likely, wouldn't want to anyway.

We visited a 55+ community nearby in Pennsylvania and spent several hours looking around. I was talking with another guy who had moved there a few years ago, about how hard it is to tackle all the “stuff” accumulated over the decades. He said they had an outfit called MaxSold handle everything. They bunched together items that he wanted gone. Items were grouped into lots so that there would be one or two desirable items and a lot of related smaller stuff to go with it. That way the small stuff ended up going pretty quickly as well. They arranged for pick up times, etc. He said he did nothing, didn’t even know what was going on most of the time because he was elsewhere.

So I visited the website and it looked like it was more something the seller had to do now, rather than them handling everything like they did for him. Has anyone had any experience with MaxSold recently?

My business was estate sales back a ways. For a percentage, we went in and priced and sold everything. Sometimes dumpsters were required. I went to auction school but the law in town prevented auctions unless held at the county fairgrounds.
You might google estate sales for your town or see if a lawyer's office could recommend a company.
