I very much doubt I would have found SO without a personal invitation Denise, if I type in anything like "Senior Forums" or "Over 50 Forums" SO doesn't come up here in the UK even after page 6, if I put club into the search as well I get associated golf sites.
Seniorforums comes up every time because it's title fits I guess.
In a way that's good as it means we grow by word of mouth but not so good for Ken in that it doesn't grow very fast.

I like the idea of seniorsriot.com Denise could you build it I will join ;):)

It's okay with me if people just peek-in on the forum and don't add anything. Some people are just shy, sad, sick, busy, just curious, or whatever. I'd rather them come and just read than to never come at all. Nothing wrong with having an audience who is interested in what you have to say ;)

Regarding the "other forum" that bans people at every whim...I was there and saw a person banned for "flirting". I couldn't figure out what the crime was with that since God created us to do that so I asked someone in-the-know (i don't think it was a moderator). She said that she and others don't like reading through all that boring stuff to get to the more intellectual posts. How much time does it take to scroll past their posts? You don't have to read them. They're having fun. What's fun to one may be different than what's fun to another. There should be something for all in forums. Diversity is a beautiful thing. Quite honestly, I found the posts to be boring of the gal that was bored with the flirting posts…but I didn't tell her that. Some people think they're above others. We all have our pros and cons.

can you imagine getting banned and your friends ask why oh why..you sigh..and with a heavy heart..."I flirted". They gasp and back out the door..hands covering the it mouths..eyes wide. It won't be long til "Inside Edition" gets wind of it..then soon the whole world knows. Mama Mia!

I haven't actually googled, or done any search to find out what would bring up seniorsonly.club. I know ken could tell you way more about SEO than I. I studied it for awhile, but only hit and miss stuff. When I was wanting to build a site, I looked to see how I would handle getting it into a google "first page". If I remember right, it has to do with the content/writing mostly. And a good guess at what people "might" type into the search field.

I'm like you, I was told about this forum. I have hunted for senior forums in the past, and not found many either, or a lot that just looked too big, or, they didn't have any activity going on (when checking the date of "last" posts).

People who are just reading are good for biz too, they are here on the webpage and they show up in our numbers. Also, I've talked to many that hung around reading for a long time before they joined. Me?? I had to jump in head-first;) Couldn't wait to find some fun!! I like the serious discussions too though, my fave is fun as I'm sure most of you know;)

I guess I'm out of the loop because I know of only 4 members here that were banned over there. Several of our members here were never banned from SF but just like this place better......without mean comments, sarcasm or annoying private messages.

Google is constantly changing their algorithms to defeat the folks that try to "game" the system to achieve high rankings.

The best advice I've ever heard was to bring visitors to your site with quality content day after day after day. It takes a long time to build your rankings that way ("long time" in Internet speak meaning several years) but you won't get sent to Google's sandbox for cheating the system with fake SEO stuff. Most of these SEO "wizards" know little more than you can learn in a few hours of self-teaching.

:D There's something with this same idea in the music business, and I've heard it many times since I started in 1998... "those who can write songs, do. Those who can't or are lousy at it call themselves teachers or mentors and try to tell others how to write songs, but it's always bad advice because they didn't know how to make it in the business."
