CHARLOTTE, N.C. —" While the beer landscape in Charlotte may be getting more crowded, it’s not all rivalries and brawls. Birdsong Brewing Co. has found a groove with collaborations through an array of partners and motivations."

lots of micro breweries have sprung up in Wisconsin. Some make it some don't.
My hubby tried making beer. It was horrible and we still have a case in the basement. He just can't throw it out. It is probably 15 years old and it does not age like wine.

That's a sweet poem. The bluebirds that nest here don't migrate. I wouldn't blame them if they started moving north for the summer, if this weather becomes the new normal. Today is hump day. High predicted 102, then only gradually going down.

These birds, and especially the chickadees, are much more fun than hummingbirds. Hummers spend most of their time chasing each other and fighting. It gets boring. I can only tell the males from the females.

This is my favorite video. From May 11th. Four young chickadees. Mama (I assume) frantically trying to tend to them all. She is the one that looks thin, dark, and flits around like a nervous wreck. Her frazzled look is partly because she takes frequent baths to cool down. At the very end (2:00) I very briefly got all 5 of them at the same time.

really enjoyed the chickadees....we're bird enthusiasts too and moved from NC to Illinois 6 years ago to be near our daughter.....
Hot here too!...we dug a small fish pond..for the birds to enjoy...what do they like....the mud hole from overflow...we made that bigger now...
i 've been freezing water jugs to keep other bird baths cool...gotta love those singing jewels of the trees

Ha! Ha! I cringe a little when the robins take a bath and then drink the bath water.
I put out a 3" jar lid on the railing, less than an inch deep with some water in it, just to see if they would be interesting in drinking from it. They do, but the chickadees take baths in it! It's so cute.

Thoughts on the Ranger fender bender

My job is not to negotiate a low price to save the insurance company money. It is to find a place that will do a good job, without my paying more than the deductible, if possible. Apparently the first estimate the ins. co. puts out is negotiable. I believe the negotiation is usually between the body shop and the insurance company, and they usually, but not always, reach an agreement.

I think the best plan is to be honest. They would know I have insurance. Why get off to a bad start. Show them the estimate and ask them if they can do this for $3200. They will probably say no and tell me what the usual process is. I might also ask them if they will explain why the cost should be higher and by how much. If they say something that sounds fishy, try another body shop. No matter what, tell them I'll get back to them.

    Am I missing something obvious?

I don't know anyone anymore to ask for a recommendation. GC recommended his uncle. I might take him up on it, but his shop is 50 miles away. With the price of used cars now, paint and body shops are probably backed up with painting. Really should start tomorrow morning. Putting it in writing. But excuses will be easy.

I agree. Go to the body shop, and let them deal with the insurance company in order to have it done right. I believe you have the right to demand that the insurance company pays for factory parts and not after market...discuss this with the body shop.

I would only worry about the quality of their work and not their relative honesty. The insurance company will deal with that.

@John Brunner: I looked on our neighborhood Nextdoor Website. Recommendations for body shops contradict each other. The quality of the work is going to be a gamble. The insurance co does not have a list of recommendations in Georgia.

Woke up at 4 am. The excuses are coming easy. Last night the printer would not print a black and white page because it was out of Magenta. Since I was already awake and the body shops don't open until 8 am, why not plan a new adventure—Walmart at 6 am! The place was empty. Replaced Magenta. Now it wants CYAN, but I fooled it. I bought a whole set. :) First excuse avoided. But I'm getting sleepy.

@Joe Riley: Our 4th grade class took a field trip to John Brown's house.

This morning I saw it. A chipping sparrow feeding seeds to a juvenile bird twice its size. It was a cowbird.

This is a stock photo. Exactly what I saw. I did see an adult cowbird earlier in the year. What a sneaky mean trick. No wonder the chipping sparrow has been running around like crazy gathering seeds.

I have to admit that this is the very first Far Side that I don't understand, and I've not seen before. I know who John Brown is (I've been to the Harpers Ferry armory many times where he was captured), but do not understand the reference. Now I feel bad for misjudging those other dim wits.

There was a song called "John Brown's Body" so the joke is "John Brown's Body SHOP."
