Some people who say just ask your doctor. Problem is the doctors are educated by the drug companies through control by the medical system. Also controlled by different rules put out by the medical system like “standard of care” which means they “drug companies” are going to tell you what you can use and if you step out there will be penalize. So even if your doctor knows what you should do he has to stay within their box. For example there was a MD/ND who was giving a patient with diabetes a diet regiment and a mineral supplement. The medical system threaten to take his license because he did not use standard of care which is to use metformin for type two diabetes. The patient later became diabetes free although the doctor could not use the word cure.
Where do you go for help? The ND doctors have been treating type two diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure and other with a very high success rate. With some research you can find a lot that the doctors are not saying. Pubmed is one source type is a search and look at the results when you see counter examples in studies just remember that there is a lot of fake studies just to discredit something goo an example which just happened a study on HCQ publish in the Lancet medical journal was a complete fake but promoted by the WHO as gospel. Also another site https://www.trialsitenews.com/ which talks about research done around the world in different studies that you might not even hear about. If you are brave you can go on line and type in natural cure for ___ and see the results. After you do take the results and go to Pubmed and see if there is any research that will back up that claim.

Have fun on your quest for health.

One thing for sure, and I've encountered this...........professionals and businesses don't like any of their clients or patients researching something online. Of course, of which professionals and businesses don't care about hearing, most doctors will not talk to a patient over the phone or thru an e-mail. They all want to be paid for any information given. We have found this out when dealing with a Dodge Dealership/Service. A Service Rep doesn't want to give out any info. They want a "diagnostic fee" for any repair. However, there are some vehicle mechanics that will give information, but they will also say "I really can't say anything until I see the vehicle."

The Internet is about the only place to get medical info, even if it could be bad info.

So, do any members here get medical help/advice from the internet, instead of paying to talk to their PCP about it? When a PCP can't be reached, and a medical problem isn't serious enough for the ER, just what do you do?

Have you ever seen some kind of medicine advertised on tv and wanted to ask your PCP about it? If you did ask him/her about it, what kind of response did you get?

Finding good health advice is not easy even from a doctor. Bless the doctors the go to school to become healers but only trained to be drug pushers and if they step out of line they can loose their license. There is tons of medical research that some one can find on NIH or pup med websites Just put in the search what you are looking for and you will get all the research on that subject. There is a ton of fake/scam on the internet selling everything or claiming this is a cure all be careful. I have a few friends who are doctors and we have lots of talks.

I have several books. some on nutrition, wild meds, and I love Dr Berg! on youtube.com who shows it is what we eat that causes most of our problems. Dr John Campbell on youtube.com went through all the literature and studies on Covid. distressing and helpful.
My daughter just asked for some of my teasle extract. Covid tests came up negative so she thinks she has lymes again. It is time to dig the first year roots now anyway. May put up a LOT this year. It is a very ticky year.
I have experimented on myself a lot over the years. Don't get much help from MD's But I have a great chiro.

I think doctors of all kinds have their place, but, as @Martin Alonzo says, the MDs and DOs are now mostly drug pushers, although the DOs weren't that way in the past. They wearied of being excluded form so many groups that they now are pretty much the same as MDs. Chiros have their place as well, but I wouldn't go to them to address a tumor. NDs are helpful, especially in health maintenance. They don't do well in acute situations, such as accidents with bleeding, but if you wish to avoid debilitating long-term illness, they may be the way to go.

As far as they internet goes for medical advice, it is very helpful for you to become an informed consumer. It can help you ask the right questions, no matter which provider you go to. I don't generally recommend treating yourself from things on the internet unless you have the background to understand what is happening, but it is your body, so you should be able to do what you believe is best for it.

I don't understand why (how?) NIH is still a reliable source of data, since it's part of HHS. Do we all view it as being uncompromised?

Albeit there is much sorrow, lots of pain, regrets, and loss before finding the truth.
