Yes I watched it all. Don’t think Georgia would have much trouble with Alabama.

Also looked at your song which I’d never heard. Was a fan of the three tenors and classical music for several years, way back, further back than that, I was a big fan of Mario Lanza. Of course, you’ve never heard of him. I tried to emulate him. I liked your song. Had never heard it that I recall. But don’t like the idea of being pulled up the volcano. I’d rather walk were it not so steep.

@Nancy Hart, Speaking of football, the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners is Lincoln Riley. He is my favorite
coach, anywhere. He played quarterback for Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, a town I lived for some
forty-seven years. Hs hometown is Muleshoe, Texas, a small town sixty to eighty miles north west of Lubbock.
He is as down to earth as a bar of laundry soap. He played for coach Leach who is now at Mississippi State.
When Oklahoma hired Riley, he was Offensive coach at Texas Tech.
He is young and is said to be an up and coming coach. It was rumored he might go to LSU. He did not. ESPN says he is going to USC, the University Of Southern California. I have felt this would be his last year at Oklahoma. I’m glad he is not going to the SEC; I feel he needs more head coaching experience before taking on a challenge like the SEC. Oklahoma and Texas are moving to the SEC in the next two or three years or so. I will now have an interest in the SEC, the Big 12, the Pac-12, and Georgia.

I like Kirby Smart. He seems like a down to earth fellow also. I don't know if he's a good coach or just got lucky recruiting some good players. He was assist. coach at Alabama under Sabin for 7(?) years prior.

I didn't like the previous coach, MarK Richt (15 yrs). His activities outside of football seemed to be more important to him than his coaching duties at times. He didn't have that killer instinct. ;) Any football player knows that if he displeases the coach in some way, he may lose playing time.

I don’t know Kirby Smart but his name is prevalent in head coaching circles, as in LSU, Texas Tech
and others. Oklahoma is searching for a head coach. Many think hiring offensives or defensive
coordinators is a better way to go rather than hire a head coach from wherever.

There are coaching positions open all over the country. And coaches out of a job all over the country
To me its all kind of fun to watch this behind the scenes stuff.

I tried playing some slow blues this morning. It didn’t go well. It didn’t sound like blues. I didn’t feel it
and that’s the way it sounded. I’ve decided if I ever got to be my best, I’d only be mediocre.

Last week I tried to find pictures online of my great-grandparents on my mother's father's side. They were both long gone before my time. Didn't even know their names. So many errors in names and dates. Too much time spent double-checking. The only thing I trust are photocopies of county documents, and sometimes even those have errors.. Do people ever lie on their tombstones?

My great-grandmother. Her name was Cleora. There is a very strong resemblance to my grandfather.

My great-grandfather's name was Clem. He was born in 1866, and had the title Reverend (?). It even appears on his tombstone as Rev. Clem. In this picture, the man on the left with the beard is identified as George, who is my 2g grandfather. He was born in 1836. I like him. I would guess this picture was taken in the 1910s.

The person who posted this picture speculated that the man in the center might be one of George's sons, and that the two little girls belong to the son. George had 12 children, including 6 boys. There is a chance the middle man is Rev. Clem. He sure looks out of place, and rather straight-laced. White tie?

I figured this was the best I could do, then 2 pictures showed up Sunday, of Cleora and Clem, along with 10 of their 13 children. [In this picture poor Clem looks like Lon Chaney, Sr.] He has the same deep-set eyes and comb-over. The tie looks the same. The little girl with dark hair, parted on the left, looks the same in both pictures. So I'd say better than 50:50 chance both are Clem. It's very likely the tallest boy below is my grandfather.

(Someone has bigger pictures and they are not sharing  ).
    [IMG] [IMG]

A puzzle: Cleora died in 1921 and is buried in a little cemetery (39.408903, -81.006715) in Meadville, West Virginia. Meadville is so small it is not even a crossroads. More importantly it is less than 2 miles from where my grandmother on the OTHER side of the family (father's mother) lived 1946-1960.

Why didn't anyone ever mention this? Why was Cleora in Meadville? Clem and Cleora lived in a different county 50 miles south. Did Clem and Cleora have a "falling out"? Was she visiting a relative? I can find no connection.

Maybe coincidences and mistakes should not be a surprise with this family, because 28% of the people alive in the US today with the same surname as George live in West Virginia. The NE part of the state must have been crawling with them, multiplying like rabbits. :) ;)

Bill, I bought a microphone to use with the harmonica. Just curious how it would sound. The cheapest setup was to use my old guitar amp and plug it into the guitar input. May not be the best way.

If you just breathe heavy anywhere close enough to the harmonica to move a reed, it picks it up. Makes for some interesting sounds with echoes and reverberations. Prone to feedback squeals and roars, depending on a lot of things, like where you sit. I need to play around with it some more.

I have been tempted to do that or several years and never did. They’ve all got some feedback. Figure it out. Enjoy.

On the way home Sunday, there was a big traffic jam at a small crossroads town. They were having their annual Christmas event. There must have been a couple hundred people there and it was just getting started. Parked the Ranger (far away where it wouldn't get scratched) and took a walkabout. These are just short segments with most edited out.

Funny thing... A loudspeaker was playing "Holly Jolly Christmas" amongst all the noise, and I superimposed that audio part on the video. YouTube flagged it for copyright. Final version has the original noise.

While sitting at the computer I noticed a stink bug circling the lampshade. Later a second one joined it. Sometimes they would go in the same direction and sometimes they would go opposites. It went on for at least a half hour. I began to feel sorry for them. :(

A person just needs to procrastinate long enough (~20 years) and some problems resolve themselves. :)

I'm very happy how the living room/dining room swap has turned out. There is no need to remodel the house, remove a fireplace, or change the front door now.

Former living room. Front door to the right, stairs to the left, old dining room behind the camera. Because of the fireplace, windows, and floor vents, it just looked silly no matter how I tried to arrange furniture.

If I ever have a dinner party (which I won't) there is plenty of room to get around this table.

It finally dawned on me I never used the living room at all, and probably never would, even if it had perfect furniture. It's just a passageway to more important places. Only has to look decent as you pass by. So it might as well have a table that is never used either. The only people who have come by lately are contractors. We can take care of business easier at a table.

All this started a chain reaction, thinking of more projects. Need tie backs for the curtains. A table runner to cover the extension, which I never intended to use. Maybe crochet one? New curtains? I've always wanted plantation shutters. Neater than curtains. Maybe a picture or two?

There is some junk piled in the new living room waiting to be sorted out, so no picture. The furniture fits well there too, but it's really old. May decide to buy some new things for it.

It's nice to find out I'm not alone with this problem: .. LINK

That looks almost exactly like my grandma's dining table and chairs, Nancy. Brings back good memories. And your room looks really pretty... good job!

Thanks, Beth. My grandmother also had a table like that. Very heavy, solid wood. That's probably why I wanted it when I saw it. ;) I bought it used at a good price from someone who wanted to get rid of it.

Short one piece of furniture for the new living room. [IMG] There is an old upholstered swivel rocker upstairs I never use. Spent two days thinking about how hard it would be to get it down the stairs.

The only hard part was getting to the main flight of steps. Laid it on its back, started to slide it down, and it just took off all by itself scooting down the stairs... ka-thump, ka-thump, ka-thump... 13 times, stopping on the last one. Didn't hurt the chair. Didn't scratch the steps. So cool, I wish I had a video. I may carry it back upstairs and record it (not).

    Finished a project ... :)

The piles of stuff that need to be sorted have moved to the kitchen. I'm on a roll, and nothing kills momentum like sorting through stuff. I'm posting a picture of the new living room, because one might assume it came out a disaster otherwise. With what I had to work with I don't think it did.

The seating area is now a corner with just enough space that you don't have to yell across the room when someone visits. It leaves a straight path from the front door to the kitchen with no obstacles. If I ever have more than 4 people over (which I won't) there are 6 dining room chairs handy.

Three different floral patterned pieces, flowered curtains, a square patterned throw, a Native American style throw my aunt crocheted, and a striped rug? I think it works. LOL.. The "experts" say it is perfectly alright as long as you tie things together a little. I have a couple of yards of fabric that matches the loveseat, which might be used as a tie that binds. Somehow?

The "coffee table" is a hand made bench matching the guest bedroom furniture. In the corner is an antique Singer sewing machine. o_O

I've been pricing solid wood furniture. Three little pieces like these would run a few thousand $$. They say reupholstering furniture is almost as expensive. Not sure about just re-covering. Since no one will be sitting in this living room, I thought about cheap new stuff that matches. But the new stuff is mostly all light solid colors. Every little spot would show. I have a cat. So I've ruled out all these options. It is what it is.

It sounds silly, but just fixing these two rooms has been a positive mood changer. I'm done with it. Got to start sorting stuff now. :p :(
