I used to get those for my horses and the goats. They were called Range Checkers back then, but were the alfalfa cubes as opposed to the small pellets. It worked great for a treat or for catching a horse because you could put a handful in your pocket, and feed them one at a time to the horses.
They looked similar to these, but mine were a little longer , like small bars of alfalfa.

The ones I bought for cattle were longer also and I always broke them in half for the goats.
