A simple JC Penney food mixer given to me in the 1980's second hand. It was just going to be thrown in the trash. Works fine for what I need.
I worked for Mrs. See for a while, as an assistant manager of an apartment building she owned in Buena Park, California. She was in the process of selling the candy business then. As for the OP, we have nuts and cooking chocolates on top of our refrigerator.
I have a makeshift shelf for large packages of cereal and storage containers that can't fit in the cabinets. I'm going to build a tall stand over the fridge and place a kitchen cabinet on it. Well, that's been the plan, oh boy.
I am sure glad I installed that high-tall cabinet over my frig 30 years ago because this old lady gets cranky just getting up there, on a ladder, once a year to get out Christmas glassware. Even back in my 40s, since I did it solo, I had to build a crib on the refrigerator and then wedge it up to get it in place, then I screwed it to the wall. I was too lazy to move out the frig as every time I did, that stinking water line would leak.
There is never enough room in a kitchen, is there? The kitchen I currently have is not as tiny as the one in my last house, and I still have bakeware stored in the laundry room.
I read a hint on the web that recommended putting down a layer of plastic wrap on top of the fridge, so when it gets dusty, just replace it rather than getting up there and cleaning the thing off. That was 5 years ago. I bet it needs replaced
I should put plastic wrap on top of all my doors. Does anyone dust on top of doors regularly? Oops, back on topic. I often put candy on top of the refrigerator and shove it way to the back so I can't see it. Sometimes I'll forget it is there. Otherwise a box like Lon's sitting in plain sight would not last long.
I keep my candy in the freezer. It's out of sight, and if I decide to grab a piece, the rock-solid stuff takes longer to eat. Regarding cleaning the tops of doors...I just can't imagine doing that unless I had medical issues.
John so you must put something on there to not clean it off. I regretting not included that task on my to-do list regularly.
