300 to 400 feet high through the tree tops by cable and pullys and over water falls. EXCITING! Do A Google Search or check it out on You Tube.

That’s why I want to be like a few of the octogenarians (and beyond) at the gym. 80-90+ year olds bucking the odds and doing what they say can’t be done. Buddy squats 350+ and he’s going on 90 soon and Jeff, who’s over 90 is a skinny old preacher who benches 220 for 3 sets of 10 reps. One S. Korean lady looks and acts like a normal 60 year old and she’s 94.

Sorry that you’re all stove up Lon but just as I know that there are a bunch of folks who fit your same bill, I know others of equal or more age on them who have defied the stigma of age.
Maybe it has something with how hard one lives their life. My body is simply used to being beat up. Always worked hard averaging 12-16 hrs a day and never took any real vacations. Maybe that’s part of the key. “Never let your brain and body know that you’re not 20”.

I may wake up tomorrow with some strange disease from Pakistan but I’ll still keep on trying till they put my body in a ditch.

My 1/2 brother, who is retired from the state of PA in Heavy Equipment Maintenance/Repair, still, to this day, works on his own vehicles and does remodeling of homes he has bought, sold or rented out. He absolutely hates computers and/or any kind of deskwork. If the guy isn't getting greasy and/or dirty, he's not happy. He is about 76.

As for me, I'll stick to my computer/desk work at home. Do very little work on a vehicle, but, thankfully, can still do some work on our boat. Can still launch and retrieve it from the water. Only other two things I can still do, and love to do, is photography and...........wait for it............watch tv with my wife. LOL

My challenges now are so different from my past working life. Remembering names and circumstances of new people I meet takes effort and is a definite challenge. Ordering and organizing medications to take and organizing finances is also a challenge. Opening packages. Watching where you are walking and picking up your feet to keep from falling. Avoiding fast jerky movements. Taking time to loosen up after waking. Concealing discomfort so others are not alarmed. Playing games and doing puzzles to keep mind sharp along with computer activity.

Well, until we finally launched/retrieved it last August, we weren't completely sure we could do it with our boat. We kept putting it off and putting it off. Almost wasted the entire summer, due to fear. Then, after finally doing it, we found out that we could do it. It had been about 5 years since we had to launch/retrieve it ourselves. After putting the boat in dry storage in Florida, a forklift would put it in the water and take it out.

We also have to watch where we step. Have to remember, when we are on a sidewalk, to step down to the driveway.

As far as the old "memory" goes, I have got an excellent one! But, if we do forget the date of something we did, and I took photos of what we did, all I have to do is put one of my photo usb (flash drive) into the computer and look at dates on pictures.

Old age memory is really weird. Now I often can vividly recall incidents from years ago, even back to childhood days, but (as the joke goes) I can't remember what I had for breakfast. To compensate a bit, I now (a) keep a list of where I put things that easily get lost (vacuum cleaner filters, guitar picks, etc), and (b) maintain a daily log of major events. I mean, Captain Kirk & Captain Pickard keep logs, so why not me?

The latest challenge is my feet. Can't seem to find a pair of shoes that are comfortable to work in outdoors. My feet give out long before my energy.

My feet are narrow and shoes just seem to keep getting wider. Feet slide around sideways inside wide shoes. That's what makes them sore. The cheap canvas shoes run narrow, but the soles are too thin. I guess the padding on the bottoms of your feet must wear thin, just like your skin thins as you age. I found one narrow pair online with thick soles. The tops were made of leather and they stretched, so your feet still slide sideways in them.
