I went to bed last night and everything was OK outside..... Well, I woke up this morning and...……. EVERYTHING TURNED WHITE OVERNIGHT... Yes, it snowed, but not that much.. About 2 or 3cms but it really looks lovely out there.. It is our first snowfall of the season but unfortunately, it won't last as it will be a bit milder in a few days melting everything...… Maybe.. What we need is a really cold spell with way below freezing temperatures for about 2 weeks which will freeze the lakes around here.. I remember some years ago the temperature went down to about -25c for a week or so and the lake was frozen so we could go skating on it.. There was no snow on top of the ice and as we skated we saw the fish and the bottom under the ice.. Very different....
I too was born and raised with a lake near by, i loved to go ice skating, And my dad loved to go ice fishing, My parents owned a Hotel by the lake In northern Illinois and would rent out fishing boats in the summer..and he took me hunting with him in the winter.. ahh the good ole days!!
Louise..... Now you have an idea why I live where I do...… country living... All that you just mentioned is our lifestyle.... You can add to that the air up here is clean.. I enjoy breathing air that hasn't been breathed before...
I’d never lived in a city until hubs and I married in 1987 , but on the other hand where i was born/ raised it was classed as a city because there was about 40.000 residents . However living in a Adelaide suburb which at the time the population of SA was around the 1.3 million was vastly different from the city where I lived when young . I hated city life for the whole 16 years we lived there ,the day we signed the contact to buy this block of land was a huge relief it was dream escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and even though I can’t swim I love the beach for waking and just watching the beautiful clean clear water as well as the nice sea breeze we get in the afternoons after a hot day. It’s really warming up going to be close to or over the old 100 f all this week
Kate...……….. I fully understand you as I also come from Montreal with a population of about 3 million.. I married Annmarie in 1997 (our 2nd marriage) and we moved to Northern Ontario and eventually bought an "A" Frame house in Massey with a population of just under 1000 country folks.. Never will I live in a big city again... Although Massey is a small village, we are only 35kms from Espanola which has all the necessary shops for us to want.. We are also 100kms from Sudbury which has a population of 250,000 and everything there.. I do my food shopping in Espanola every other week and we go to Sudbury about once every other month.. Can't wait to come home after the big city...
You know something ……………. I've been thinking that...…. We have lost some rather important people lately..... Like … Steve Jobs Johnny Cash Bob Hope Now we have...…… NO JOB,..... NO CASH,.... and,...… NO HOPE …. I do hope that …. Kevin Bacon …. sticks around for a while..
Now Steve, that is hilarious!!!. Tooo funny.. i needed a good laugh today. .Thanks.. you should put that in the Make me Laugh forum ,,,
It just started snowing again.. they are calling for up to 10cms of snow, but I don't think we will get that much..
The temperature for the next few days is way above freezing and … RAIN … go figure this weird weather pattern...
