I can totally relate to how you feel, @Lon Tanner . Even though I have never played golf, it is the same feeling for me every time I see a western movie and someone is riding a horse.
I miss having a horse and being able to ride for hours at a time up into the mountains, and just the peace and happiness that horseback riding brings me.
I think that we probably all feel that way about something that we enjoyed when we were younger, and are now unable to do any longer, whatever that particular thing might be for each of us.

Is the Masters only Pay-per-view this year? I can't get it on TV.

Wife watches all the sports...I watch none of 'em except the Rose Bowl and Super Bowl. The rest are boring.

I like the names of the golf clubs from the old days; Mashie, Brassie, Cleek, Niblick, Midiron, Spoon; today they're all just unimaginative numbers.

Never played and can't imagine anything more boring to watch. Except maybe bowling.

We watched, what was televised, on Saturday. IOW, the Golf Channel had The Masters on at 8AM (MT), but it was all talking, no playing. So, we watched something else until actual play was started. Then, on Sunday, watched until the first NFL game came on. At that point, everyone pretty much knew that Dustin Johnson was going to win. Tiger put the Green Jacket on Dustin, which was very cool.

When it comes to weather (heat/wind/rain), walking around a golf course, or lucky enough to pay for a golf cart and all of the golf equipment.............nope, don't have to do that! We play golf on our Wii Game and have a ball doing it.

You sound like a friend of ours that hates any kind of sports. Definitely can't talk to him about any.

I miss the two horses I had and riding. But, I'll ride again, even if we have to go to a rental string and get one. I miss swinging a rope from a horse, but those days are gone.

I don't know how my thinking watching golf is boring equates to "hates all sports." I enjoy sports; we used to be huge NFL fans but kicked them to the curb when they decided that kneeling to the National Anthem was a thing. I also enjoy college football and basketball, Olympic competitions, etc. One grandson has a full university scholarship running track. He's a cross-country runner (as was my husband). I don't enjoy track and field events but he's my grandson. :D

More than any other sport, I think golf is as much about the players as it is the game. I would always root for particular players. Always liked Dustin Johnson. Glad he finally won the Masters.

When I was a kid I used to root for Sam Snead. :)

I started playing golf when I was around twenty-five. I only know a few of these young golfers now days but I knew their daddies
and followed them and rooted for them. I'm glad Dustin finally won,

I managed a country club with a championship course for a couple of years until we got it up to “par” so it could be sold.
Meanwhile, I played at least 9 holes every morning before work. I had to let the Pro go because he was dipping into the till so that technically made me the pro for a while. Because of my pro status, I was able to play at other surrounding courses on my day off for free but they were mostly desert courses and not much fun.
I kind of thought about playing a few rounds here but to tell the truth, whilst it may be good exercise I can’t see putting out the kind of money the courses want for greens fees around here and the municipal course is mixed with a jogging trail which is one hazard I’m not used to playing.

Long and short, no, I do not play any longer.

The last game I played was in Lubbock. I played with two grandsons. I had to quit after six holes because i was so out f breath I couldn't walk to the tee.
Golf was and is a great game.
