Sean Connery died in his sleep today at age 90. Connery was my favorite of all the James Bond actors with Roger Moore coming in right behind him. I'd seen Connery in other roles and had a difficult time understanding him at times. But, he was a fine actor.
I never watched any of the James Bond movies, but I really liked Sean Connery’s acting, and can’t think of any movie that I saw him in that I didn’t like. My favorite would have to be The Hunt for Red October.
You mean language-wise? "To cultivate an English accent is already a departure away from what you are." Sean Connery . That may be why.
Connery was actually Scottish and sometimes that burr would intrude into his speech which threw me. I had a good friend from Scotland and always had to pay close attention to what he was say. Brogues and burrs are alien to my ears. But then again, so are most foreign languages, so when it's off kilter to me I miss the entire meaning of what was said.
Three blind mice, Three blind mice, Walking down the street, To a calypso beat...... From the first scene of "Dr. No," through the next six Bond movies, Sean Connery was the essence of cool, as i saw it. No other actor came close, in that role. RIP, Sir Sean. Thanks for all of your great performances that kept me totally entertained!
My favorite Connery movie was The Hunt for Red October. I still love to watch that one. Opening scene (2 minute clip)
The Hunt for Red October is one movie with Connery I haven't seen. One of my favorites aside the Bond movies is Entrapment co-starring Catherine Zeta-Jones. Connery just brought something unique to all the characters he played.
