Younger daughter called me earlier."Dad my washer won't drain and it's leaking all over the floor!" I tell her to turn off the water and breaker and I'll be over. Threw a few tools in a bucket and took off. Easy drive, but it is 20 some miles. Well I git there and we get the machine bailed out,get it tipped over.Took of the discharge line at the pump nothing came out. Was kind of a rope of cloth there though so I clamped on with the channel locks and yanked. There I was with a thong hanging on my pliers. I just handed them (the pliers) to her she turned crimson and tossed them in the trash. Put it back together and all is good. Advised her to get a mesh bag
@Peter Renfro Here is why our dryer had stopped drying the clothes: Drum had heat in it, circuit breaker OK, drum turned OK, pulled unit away from wall, turned it around, removed cover plate over vent outlet and blower fan, found this: Could hardly believe my eyes! Snake had crawled in between outside louvers on vent, got through 8-10 feet of vent tubing, chopped head up in blower vanes! At least 4 feet long! Dryer was OK. Frank
Now we know where all are missing socks go. @Frank Sanoica, how long had you been trying to dry your 'snake'?
@Von Jones It may have been in there at most two days. Did not stink or anything, fortunately, lest my wife might have pitched out our clothes! And now, I am running out of uncanny occurrences to relate.............. Frank
My daughter called me a few days ago very upset that her dryer had stopped working. She didn't want to have to buy a new one right now, other things they wanted to spend their money on etc. I asked her why she thought she needed to replace it. BECAUSE IT WON'T TURN ON MOM!! I laughed and told her that there were plenty of reasons for it to not turn on other than it was just broken. She said, "I KNOW Mom (I could FEEL her eye roll lol) and yes, I've checked to make sure it's plugged in and it IS." Right. So check the fuse box. Maybe a breaker? She fussed and said there's NO WAY blah blah blah. Didn't they have an electrician in the day before to do some work on the garage mini split? Well, yeah, but what does that have to do with anything? I told her to just humor me, and go check. She did. And you know the result. She was very sheepish, and said she should know better than to doubt me HA!!
@Ronni Gates Mom the home mechanic! I'm surprised your own abilities were not passed on along the way. Sometimes it's like that; kids' interests diverge and wend away from the practical...... Frank
