Due to Neuropathy in both legs and feet I use a walker. It can readily convert to a transport chair if I needed to be transported. It is very light and collapses. I call it HENRY my horse.
Yes I use one outside. Inside I use a cane and that is because my house is small and a cane works better indoors where there is less space for a walker to menuvier. Also I have a trailing plastic tubing carrying oxygen and it sometimes gets in the way of the walker. One does what he can.
My MIL uses one similar to yours, Lon. Hers has a little basket between the handlebars where she can put a few odds and ends, or her handbag if she's out and about. Thankfully I don't require a walker at this time.
I use a cane on ocassion. Some days I feel more stable than other days. Cane gives me more balance on off days.
I use a walking stick, but usually only when I'm hiking through the woods. It doesn't always keep me from falling down, though.
I use a walker in the house during my "off" periods. I try to avoid going out during these periods but will sometimes use a walking stick. When the meds kick in i walk like a normal human.
I did when I first became disabled, but with a lot of p.t. got away from it. However, some 12 years later, I've developed balance problems due to neuropathy from spinal stenosis and loss of hearing. So, I do use a can occasionally and may have to get the walker out again in due time.
I use mine only when I'll be on my feet for a long time, like at a County Fair or a Home Show. Mine has a seat and storage compartment, too. Hal
i could of used a cane the other night --i tripped over the dog gate--well i found out i couldnt fly--i got a few bruises
I have one in the back of the hall closet. I haven't seen it for a few years. My wife has a basic one that she uses around the condo. I took the wheels from mine and put them on hers. She likes it much better with 4 wheels. I bought her another with 4 wheels that folds up skinny and fits in the trunk of the car easily.
When I fell below 115 lbs and was passing out a lot they gave me a walker to use.It didn't do me a lot of good. When I would start to feel sick and dizzy I'd have to go quickly down on all fours whether I was using the walker or not. Now that I've regained some weight and am steadier it sits in the bedroom I use for storage.
