I wouldn’t be so sure. We’re not very good predicting what’s going to happen and may be totally incapable of doing anything about it when it does happen.
Germany had a lot of problems post WWI and was being financially ruined by those countries who demanded reparations. In short, it was literally being torn apart and the people needed someone who would not only give them assurance that they still had a country to be proud of whilst uniting them in a common cause. Germany, for all intensive purposes, had no future and a people without hope will cling to anything that even resembles a safeguard for a better life. I think the better question is if the people of Germany could have seen just a smidgen of the future, would it have made any difference? So far as the “head of the snake”, I dunno. Is it a snake or a hydra with many heads or is it a siren drawing all those who will listen to their doom......or both? What is it that has curtailed the morals and ethics of a relatively new society? What is it that has ambushed the sense of reason and logic?
Besides, isn’t this fun! Watching all the give and take between the good and the bad, the conservatives and the liberals, the young and old, the know it alls versus those of us who know next to nothing, It is enough to cause great elation or give a bad case of heartburn occasionally. I’m too old to do anything but complain and vote. I prefer to watch from the sidelines, as in a football game, and call the plays for one of the teams. Of course it is not the the game of life. I’ve already lost that one, but like a game of Them versus us maybe.

Exactly. With an honest media, this would be a failing tactic. But the failings of The Right [for lack of a better term] are magnified, while the failings of The Left are always couched in terms of the "mean" reaction of the Right. Any justifiable violence to make it stop would be leveraged to destroy more rights and implement draconian controls.

Agree. This is just another topic meant to distract from important things that aren't going very well. It makes for a good thread though, because it provides a sort of competition to see who can be the most outraged. It will go away in a couple of weeks and be replaced by something else.
It appears that only certain statues should be pulled down, according to the BLM supporters, but a statue to Lenin (in Seattle, naturally), who was probably the greatest enslaver in all history, is perfectly fine, and no one even mentions pulling it down. One of those guys that asks people on the street questions, to see what they think about some topic, was asking about taking down statues of people who had owned slaves.
