@Shirley Martin Here is the orange cake recipe you asked about I cut this recipe out of a Australian Woman’s Weekly book dated May 1990 125gm ( 4.4 ounces ) soft butter 3/4 cup castor sugar 1. Tablespoon grated orange rind 2. Eggs 1.1/2 cups self raising flour ( not sure what you call SR flour ) 1/3 cup orange juice 1/2 cup milk Optional ..2 tablespoons of poppy seeds Cream butter and sugar , add eggs and grated orange rind ..mix well. Add OJ and milk Add sifted flour mix well ..only mix with mixer long enough to combine all ingredients Stir in poppy seeds if using Place in paper lined / greased cake pan and cook on moderate oven for 50 mins depending on your oven Cool in tin for 1/2 hour before turning out onto wire rack Nice moist cake ,ice with orange icing if liked
I got it, @Kate Ellery . I printed it. What is castor sugar? Can I use regular sugar instead? It sure sounds good.
Castor sugar is a finer sugar @Shirley Martin it’s almost like icing sugar ,yes you can use standard sugar https://www.sweetestmenu.com/what-is-caster-sugar/
May be the same @Shirley Martin i use my NutriBullet to make my own castor sugar from standard sugar They recommend CS cause its better / quicker when creaming butter and sugar If you have a kitchen whizz make your own
I think it's the same thing, Kate. I use it mixed with cream cheese and other things to make frosting and other desserts.
