    • Canada has not been hit as hard, but that doesn't mean the concern isn't there. Possibly, things are heightened out of proportion, not to say it's not serious. Some of which of what we are dealing with, we could be using our own common sense, not taking the severity away, by all means. I guess, our job in this is being sensible, taking care, and being cautious, but the sad factor still remains, that our seniors, some stricken with ill health, etc, seem to be the first targets. Let's just try to take care and use common sense. You may have heard on the news, that our Prime Minister and his wife are on self quarantine, his wife has tested positive.

I had a run-in last night with a bit of reality concerning how much misinformation is out there.
A friend of mine who lives just outside London, England messaged me believing that we were in danger of being infected with the virus. She said that her friend in Birmingham, Alabama wrote her and said that the city had many cases and was spreading fast.
The problem is that we went to the gym (Huntsville Hospital Wellness Center) yesterday and was told that there was only one case in Alabama and the report came from Montgomery.

So, here we have someone a hundred miles from us who writes to a friend in England that Alabama is some sort of virus infected battle ground.
Yes, there are people who are raiding the stores and buying up everything from Ramen Noodles to toilet paper and yes, there are a lot of precautions being implemented but no, other than the one case (so far) in Montgomery we are safe and sound.
Sadly, one of the precautions was that the Wellness Center did close the Sauna, Whirlpool and the Steam room but so far the gym and pool remain open but with all the hype, we really do not know for how long. Yvonne loves the Hot Tub and I have to have the Steam Room after a heavy workout. Well, I don’t Have to have it but it sure is nice!

Bottom line though is that it’s like that old experiment whereby 10 or so people stand in line and the first person is given a phrase in secret to pass on to the next person again, in secret. By the time the phrase reaches the 10th or so person it’s so distorted that it’s hardly recognizable from the original wording.
If the media were to pay extra close attention to what they are reporting and give up the commentaries and folks would simply quit trying to repeat what they “think” they heard and just take the necessary precautions there would be a lot less hysteria attached to the virus.

We have had one case in the whole state of Maine, and that was someone who is not sick but tested positive after returning from a trip to Italy. Travel bans do make sense, not because they will stop the spread but because they will slow it down. Most people who test positive are not particularly sick, but simply have signs of a cold, which is something that most adults get 2-3 a year, yet the news would have us believe that people are dying left and right, and those who survive do so only by way of medical miracles.

We've had one case in Larimer County, CO, where we live. An 80 plus year old in El Paseo County did die of her coronavirus, but she had some serious health problems as well.

Since President Trump made his speech on tv yesterday, we have calmed down some about the whole thing. However, we haven't seen our new next-door neighbor for awhile. His truck has been parked out front, but no sign of him. We are really wondering about this. Is he sick inside of his apartment? We'd really like to know and somehow will find out.

I have read about this corona virus pandemic drill in several places online, but the link that I am including explains everything pretty well.
From what you can find online, in September of 2019, China held a pandemic drill in (imagine this) Wuhan to prepare in case there was ever some kind of corona virus pandemic.

The next month , we had Bill Gates Foundation, and World Economic Forum in New York, which also had a corona virus simulation there, complete with suggested news releases and videos.
It was called Event 201, and was hosted by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.
Bill Gates also has a financial interest in the company who owns the patent for the COVID-19, and helped to fund it as well as designing a vaccine for the virus.

In the US the number of new COVID-19 infections reported almost surely mirrors the number of new tests being performed. In other words, if more tests were performed the number of cases would almost surely be higher.

This swab test will not show positive if a person has already had the virus and fully recovered. The only test that will show that, is an antibody test which requires a blood sample.

Given that, if a person needs a conspiracy theory, maybe the slowness in providing tests is to keep the number of new cases from showing up on the US statistics. And the longer the wait, the fewer people who have already had the virus and recovered will be reported.

Just to make it clear, I don't believe this to be the case, but it doesn't take much imagination to take that leap. I don't believe in many elaborate conspiracies for nefarious reasons, but I do tend to believe there are a lot of small scale conspiracies to cover up incompetence.

I have no real reason to doubt you but for the life of me, I cannot find anywhere on the lists that people from the UK cannot fly here.
However, what I am finding is that some people with other foreign passports are not allowed to fly here via the UK which to me, makes sense.
Also, since American citizens are not banned from travel but if the flights getting here are banned then the former makes no sense either.

Dunno man, it’s crazy out there. Time to find my nice warm easy chair and wait it out cause I ain’t flying anywhere anyhow and am not expecting anyone to fly here to see me. Guess I’m just lucky that way.

Edit: Well, my wife sent me a link that proves you right Tom. Good thing I have a wife with a good nose for detective work.

If you're taking the virus seriously, then it makes sense to limit foreign travel. Pretty much everyone in the US who has been diagnosed with it has come here from some other country, which makes sense.

Wonder what will happen, if it comes down to this, a curfew will be done in all major cities?

Denver, CO didn't have their St. Patrick's Day Parade yesterday, but many Millennials still gathered together to celebrate St. Pat's Day. There were those that told local news media "that's just plain stupid". But, then again, how many of us, when we were the Millennials age, followed things that we were told to do by any authorities?
