According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), U.S. National Library of Medicine, receiving the influenza vaccination may increase the risk of other respiratory viruses, a phenomenon known as virus interference. -- NCBI

Now have 1 reported case of COVID 19, first diagnose in Manitoba. A person in our provinces capital city, Winnipeg............Got a call today from one of the hospitals in Winnipeg. Message included, symptoms, what to do, numbers to call if needed, precautions, self isolation actions, very well detailed. I'm guessing, our provinces whole population were getting this message.

"...a survey of people who use preventive NATIVE PROPOLIS confirm the absence of viral illnesses (colds, flu) and faster healing..."

I've had experience treating people and animals with propolis and have been having great results. Understanding that most will consider what the modern world considers a "folk medicine" as a bunch of malarkey. I've pretty much only shared this with close friends and many if them question my belief in this ancient solution. All I can say is that what Pliny the Elder wrote about in Roman times is still one of the best strategies for mitigating pathogens today.

Just how scared should we all be? Guess there are those Seniors, like us, who have Diabetes II, that should be scared more than those that don't have any kind of heath problems at all.

Another question: What about those that get the flu, but don't want to go to the doctor and/or get the virus test?

    The mind boggels.

Trump has to my mind and rightly so has banned all flights from the EU to the US for 30 days

But he has not banned flights from the UK.

So anybody from the EU will fly to the UK and book a flight to the US after landing..... there will be nothing on their passport to say different

@Tom Galty ,President Trump said just a while ago that in view of the increase in cases in the UK, they may be added to the travel ban. He also said that some countries may be removed.

@Cody Fousnaugh , I really don't see any benefit to a person who has COVID-19 in being tested. There isn't a treatment for it. If they get sick enough to need breathing treatments, etc., they should see a doctor. I can see how the test could help stop it from being spread, though. My suggestion is, if you feel sick, stay home. If you get seriously sick, call your doctor to see what he says. Don't go out where there are crowds of people unless it's absolutely necessary.

I probably won't be posting to this thread for a while. The things that people are manipulated into believing makes it difficult for me to be polite. Panic, if you feel the need to. Have at it. As for me, I'm not going to get caught up in the nonsense.

I can understand that, Ken. Since you live in a small village in a remote area, the chances of you getting it are small. That's also probably why you don't get flu. I live near a city with many thousands of people. There is an international airport there where thousands of people from all over the globe pass through daily. There are already cases of COVID-19 there. Many people who live near me work in the city. They drive there daily. The odds are that some of them will get sick. So , while, I am not panicked, I do intend to be cautious. Older people are more in danger than young people so I think it's better not take any risks.

Well, Ken, all it takes is a family member getting the virus, getting really sick and even possibly dying to totally understand some of the panic. Many sports venues have shut-down/cancelled games due to …………………. (fill in the blank). Broadway Shows in NY have closed due to...……...
Ken, we have a friend who thinks nothing of the virus with a "I just plainly don't care" attitude that he actually said to me. Now, if one of his sons, or their wives, who are in their mid 40's, got the virus, he surely think differently.

But, all of us have different feelings about different things.

Perhaps the need to remain polite has passed Ken. I am hearing that Australian politician Peter Dutton has COVID-19 and that he has been in contact recently in the States with Ivanka Trump and US Attorney General William Barr. Also Pierre Trudeau's wife has the virus. If true this tells me that the original statement that the virus only attacks those of Chinese Asian race.. is not factual.

What I'm also wondering about is:
There are those that really resist in going to see a doctor for anything. If one of those kind of people gets a cold, will they go to a doctor to be checked out?

I hope we are all praying for this virus to pass quickly and we will be free of it - I believe in the 'power' of prayer

So true. And people will be affected differently depending on their location and personal conditions. I'm not healthy nor is my whole family. So in contrast to healthy and younger folks we have an increased risk of getting really seriously ill when infected. When I was having swine flu I got a foretaste of it.

What we are seeing is an epidemic on a national level developing in slow motion directly before our eyes. Over here, we started with 5 cases and now there are over 3,000 within just a few days. That's what exponential growth is all about and what some people nagging about recent restrictive measures don't seem to understand. If not kept at bay, there might be 1 mio cases by the end of May. Our health care system is not prepared for such an epidemic. There are just 25,000 beds in intensive care units. Maybe other nations are better prepared. I wonder what India will be doing. The virus is also spreading in warm Brazil shattering all hopes for the virus being seasonal.

It seems to be true that for the majority of younger, healthy people it will be a mild(er) form of the illness but not so for those over 60s and particularly for those with other health issues. The epidemic is rather a problem for society than for the individual. If fatal triaging like in parts of Italy is to be avoided, then the epidemic needs to be slowed down, quarantine and closing schools, day-cares, and universities for some time being some of the necessary measures in many countries.

As for testing, people are tested if there are justified reasons or if they show symptoms. If the first test is negative, they will be tested as soon as they show symptoms. After the illness they need two subsequent negative tests to be cleared. Those who don't get tested will keep spreading the virus to other people. A superspreader can infect up to 180 people when conditions are right.

I'd agree that there are topics, posts, and threads that make it difficult to hold one's horses. In contrast to other threads, though, I haven't read anything in this thread which would make me lose my countenance. Talking of manipulation, Friedrich Hacker described it as "The absence of visible violence allows manipulation to pretend to be the freedom that it deprives. ” Who thinks he's not manipulated let him first cast a stone.
