This morning I bought a pack of hot oil hair treatments. On the box it states …….
VO5 nourishing 'coconut' hot oil (they are a pack of small bottles that you heat up)
I thought, yea coconut oil, good for hair
When I got home, I read the info on the back, and - 'no' coconut oil in there - just coconut aroma !
Well that's not good is it, I mean its like going into a restaurant and ordering a coconut and they
put a melon on yer plate

Any similar stories to tell ……….

Oh yes. Welcome to advertising. This happens on many products including foods. The first five ingredients of Anything- is what the product is made of.
Aloe Vera is boasted in many lotions but the aloe if any is often last on the list.
We have to read everything nowdays to get even half of what we want.
Aleve has a night time pain med- but it has same ingredients as the orginal- but yet they can charge more because it has PM on the box.

One of the things they do to make you think there is less sugar in a product is to list all the different sugars separately, so that they're further down the list of ingredients.

Instead of: Sugar, water, artificial and natural flavorings, etc..... where you'd immediately put the product back on the shelf because of ALL.THAT.SUGAR....

It's: Water, cane sugar, high fructose corn syrup, maltose, lactose, etc...…….. and you think, "oh, that's not too bad, it's mostly water.

It's still mostly sugar dissolved in some water; they're just a bit more sneaky about it.

The extra annoying thing about that is adding sugar to yoghurt, ugh far too sweet and …
over here, they have done away with the nasty ingredients in foods and I see no difference in taste, what took them so long …
They had no qualms on giving customers IBS and other ailments with the added nonsense
There will be a sugar tax soon so hopefully far less sugar to come :)

Saw a piece on catsup once. We used to buy Heinz but when you add all the sugars together, it turns out their catsup is mostly sugar.

In polite company I'd call it ketchup.

Many diabetics could regulate their blood sugar without insulin if they took stock of everything they eat and actually checked out the sugar content. I sort of had the heads up because my husband was diabetic as well, but lots of people have no idea how much sugar they are consuming on a daily basis. As @Patsy Faye said....there isn't any reason for the sugar to be there in the first place. (First I heard of a sugar tax. Why is the UK implementing this?)

@Bess Barber - due to the vast amounts of sugar that is added to products and the obesity rates rising here.
Manufacturers are already reducing the sugar levels so that's good, wish they would do the same with salt, although some have.
I love cheese, but sometimes there is far too much salt, so that could be reduced too

The other thing I've noticed is TV ads for hair products that claim added volume and bounce
In small print there will be, 'the model is wearing extensions' …….. :p

Amazon has a habit of showing the picture of a product, but not having that product to sell. Or, that certain product is sold out, they don't know when that certain product will come in, so they send you a similar one. However, not the one in the picture you want.

This happened to me with a pair of Darth Vader gloves. The picture showed "flaux" type gloves, the same as my Vader jumpsuit is made of, but the gloves sent were flat gloves, not thick/grooved ones.

The thing that can really, really bug me...…...companies that don't change their websites. IOW, a company closes, but it still shows up online as open. A barber shop owners phone number was disconnected due to roof repair, he doesn't want to pay for reconnection, but his website still shows the phone number as valid.

We are a generation who should be the healthiest people on the planet, but as it is, we are facing diseases at epidemic proportion. I think much of it is due to the way we ate throughout our lifetime. Until internet and social media, many of us just weren't aware of the crap we were consuming. I'm not sure the government should have to step in and regulate it. I think as consumers, if we collectively refuse to buy these products, I bet they will change their formulas and recipes overnight. People are becoming more and more aware on a daily basis.
