    @Beth Gallagher It's annoying when it goes up and down so drastically throughout a 24 hour period. I have a door hook behind my bedroom door with one set of clothes for colder and one for warmer. By the time I go to bed, I have no idea WHAT to wear. :D

    It was in the high 70's all day, then the cold front blew in. Went to 54 in a matter of minutes. Will be in the 40's tonight, but no hard freeze. Do you plan to keep water running through out the freeze time?

    No; our house is on a slab so we only need to have the foam insulation around the main water pipe where it enters the house. It normally will only be below freezing for a few hours.

    Illinois temps.......yep! How well I remember, having spent my first 30 years on this Earth outside of Chicago! I walked to the store at -20` F many times. Frank

    It was said on the new this AM that at least 70% of the U.S. was gripped in this icy cold that dropped down from Canada. Warmest place was Los Angeles at 60 degrees. San Antonio was only 28 degrees, so it is cold, folks.

    Not only is it cold, but it's windy. It's unusual for us to have a week of this sort of weather.
    I know it is nowhere as cold as the rest of the country though. It set records in some places.

    What little snow we've had doesn't have to be shoveled because we can walk on top of it.

    Ugh, that WIND. It cuts like a knife!! (And our pool umbrella flew over the fence into our grumpy neighbor's yard last night.)

    @Lois Winters

    Here at our house today it topped out at 82 degrees; L.A. ain't got nothin' on us! We are located 3 miles east of the Colorado River, a few miles south of Bullhead City, Arizona, at an altitude of 600 feet above sealevel.
