Disney Plus debuts today; did anyone sign up?? :D Apparently it's $7 a month, or there's a bundle with ESPN/Disney/Hulu for $13.

WHAT??? I didn't know anything about it until I read this thread! I'm going to join tomorrow, so will my daughter as soon as she hears. I'll probably do the bundle, even tho I would never watch ESPN. Thanks for the info!

Let me know how you like it. I'm not sure I "need" another streaming service; I recently canceled Hulu.

I have a whole system of vacation holds so I'm not paying for more than I have time to watch.

I'm thinking that most people who get Disney will also keep Netflix.

@Beth Gallagher My daughter joined and said there was so much content, she took 4 hours just looking through all that was being offered. With NatGeo, it really has some good programs. They also pulled their content from Netflix. I'm not an animated cartoon watcher, but this genre does have a massive audience of kids and adults. Most of the favorites now are only available on Disney.

I'm going to do my subscription tomorrow unless I can sign on with my daughter's log in. (I didn't admit that one out loud. :D) Word on Reddit, which is my daughter's big online hangout, is that within 2 years, Disney will probably acquire Netflix. Even some of Netflix's original content belongs to Disney. I'm not sure how that works. But, it's a bang for the $7 bucks.

I was just reading where Disney is putting "disclaimers" on their old animated movies. Wouldn't want the snowflakes to have a ... meltdown. At least they haven't butchered the originals by removing "insensitive" material that accurately reflects social mores at the time.

I hope Disney doesn't acquire Netflix. I get really tired of the big companies and their monopolies. Report back when you have checked it out.

I have done a trial of Disney and I don't think I'll be keeping it. Since I don't have any five-year-olds in the house, there is almost nothing there that I like, for one thing. Plus, I have tried to watch two movies. During each of them, I was disconnected from Disney. When I came back in, I found that I had to navigate to the movie again, finding it amongst all the others, and then I learned that it hadn't even saved my place in the movie. I don't get that with Netflix.

I downloaded the app to my smart TV but I haven't activated the free trial. I'm sure they are having a bit of growing pains, getting things smoothed out. I read that they had something like 10 million subscribers sign up the first day...yikes.

They'll need to add way more stuff if they want to compete with Netflix. Except for National Geographic documentaries, they have nothing for adults. In their whole product line, I found only two movies that seemed worth watching, and one of them wasn't.

Well, this isn't good. For any of you who signed up for Disney+, your account may have been hacked.

    From YAHOO...
A new report suggests thousands of Disney Plus accounts have been hacked in the streaming service's opening week. Some may even be getting sold online, so it could be time to protect your account and change your password.

ZDNet has trawled various hacking and cracking forums to discover that Disney Plus accounts are being put on sale for figures of up to $10. With the service allowing account sharing and it also coming coupled with a less-than-intuitive watchlist, it may not always be immediately obvious if someone else is using your account.

I just used my ROKU account, but nothing has been charged because I'm in the 7 day free trial time. I'm not sure if I'm vulnerable or not. Maybe Netflix paid a hacker..........:D

I agree with Ken that this is a channel more suited for families with children. However, I have enjoyed the few documentaries and some of the old favorites. I didn't think I would enjoy seeing them without any kids, but I actually did. Since I'm going in with my daughter, it's only $3.50 a month, so I'll probably keep it awhile. I wouldn't mind watching all the Star War movies again.

Extra info: My daughter used to work at the NBA restaurant at Universal Studios in Orlando. A friend of hers said that the word is....Disney is planning to pull their content from the Universal park. This is actually a good portion of Universal rides and entertainment. I wonder how all that will go down? Could just be a rumor though.

I paid for a year of Disney, but I don't know why I did that. I have only watched a few things all the way through. While I am sure there is a lot that National Geographic could do that might be interesting, every single National Geographic documentary that I clicked into was all climate change propaganda, so I haven't watched any of them all the way through. Disney has a section for vintage Disney, which would be okay, except that they include only a couple of vintage cartoons. I don't care for the Marvel superhero movies or any of the animated Pixar crap, so it was a waste of money. They have a long way to go before they'll be competing with Netflix.

My son is eschewing Disney as he dislikes the company since it took over Star Wars and ruined the story line completely. I, of course wouldn't be bothered with it at all. No disrespect to the Disneys, but it just ain't the same. I met them in California when Roy was a patient of mine a couple of time in the hospital where I worked. It was directly across the street from their studios and when I saw the flat bed trucks leaving with tons of stuff daily, I asked Walt what was going on. He told me about Disneyland and said it would not be finished for a couple of years. That was OK, as I went into the Air Force and visited when I came home. But Disney studios is not the same and neither is Warner Brothers, up the street.

@Lois Winters What an absolutely cool story!!! I think Walt was such an interesting man. Just brilliant!

@Ken Anderson How did you end up paying for a whole year?? Geeze. I never pay a year in advance for anything. My Jewish mind
tells me I might die before I use it, thus wasting my money. This is the same reason I don't buy cigarettes by the carton. :D
