Does cookouts at the park count? It was two years ago planned by a nephew for a family gathering. Nothing like the old-fashioned-lay-a-cloth-on-the-ground-picnic-basket-filled-with-goodies type. I never been on a real picnic like that before.
I never enjoyed picnics. Picnic food is the only type of food I don't like, except for burgers and hot dogs cooked on a charcoal grill. We never did that. It was much easier to cook food on the grill at home. The last picnic I remember was at Stone Mountain in GA. The yellow jackets were soooooo annoying.
@ Emma Smith I never liked picnics all that much either. Of course, I'm in Florida and the flies, mosquitos and other bugs come around.
Haven"t done the picnic scene for many years. The kid years we did a lot of picnics, parks, lakes, back yards, was fun then, now it seems like it"s just a bug fest, guess they have to eat too, they should make their own picnic basket. .
We have one or two picnics each year at a park near where we live. There is a lake where we can fish or hire a row boat and explore. I do enjoy doing this.
There's something about eating outside that makes me consume twice as much as I normally would. But it's been a while since I've been on a picnic, or just taken food outside to sit at a table. Being in Virginia, the humidity is a real deterrent.
