Excellent that you're all settled in now Cody... but remember what I said don't unpack everything, now that you've decided you'll be moving again in 12 months. it'll save a whole load of repacking! Sorry to hear you had a painful accident, but the bright side is that now you know what the medical facilities are like in Colorado...

Other than all of that, are you and Mrs Cody enjoying your experience so far?... apart from the lack of blues and 2's (police sirens)..what's your favourite thing so far?

I'm glad you made it back to Colorado. Now, I don't want to hear about how much you miss Florida, and how much warmer it would have been if only you'd stayed in Florida.

Sorry you're disappointed in your move Cody, but maybe after a few months you'll discover more about it that you'll like. Glad your fall wasn't serious.

Please be sure to have good medical facilities and enough specialists very near to where you end up, if you do move again.

Glad you made it but I am very disappointed in the way you told the story of your accident Cody.
Being an old rodeo guy, I would have thought you'd write that you asked your wife to give ya a slug of whiskey and then throw a big wad of "chaw" on the wound then went out to saddle the horse but I guess it is what it is. :)

All precautions are not even enough! Two days ago, putting on my pants, one leg on, the other foot caught in the cuff, tripped myself, fell backwards, flailed at a wooden kitchen chair to break the fall; it didn't, instead breaking the chair. Shoulder wrenched, skin ripped back on arm, but landed on my ass.......

Sounds like you are fortunate not to have done more damage in the fall, Frank ! From your narrative, I am guessing that you were standing up when you were putting on your pants ?
I always get dressed while sitting on the edge of the bed, so it is easy to balance and still get my body in a workable position to get my clothes on. I have never had good balance in my entire life, but what i did have , is long since gone.

@Cody Fousnaugh , in addition to mats to keep from slipping, you should install grab bars. I have vertigo occasionally so I bought some grab bars at Walmart that have suction cups to make then adhere to the wall. They work really well.

I'm glad y'all made it safely to your new home. You did good. :)

Were not disappointed we moved...…..definitely not! It's just that Cheyenne doesn't have the lakes for boating/fishing that Loveland/Ft Collins does. The area we live in has a whole lot less people in it, with much, much less crime than where we lived before. We are very happy to be back in Colorado and able to see the Rockies again. Actually, I talked to a young lady banker who use to show hogs at Fairs and was in both 4-H and FFA. Heck, she even knew about rodeo.

We knew that, in moving back to Colorado, we'd have to face "Old Man Winter" again, but winter is just part of this area. But, if we do complain some, it's still better, for us anyway, living here rather than in the South and/or Florida. With all of the changes we'd seen happen in Jacksonville, 10 1/2 years of living there was plenty. Going thru two hurricanes, as in Mathew and Irma was pretty scary for us. And, in a so-called "Florida winter" seeing a daytime high of 45 degrees, even people here find that hard to believe. "Anywhere in Florida with a high of 45 degrees seems really weird" we've been told here.

We met a young lady at Verizon that got transferred here last summer, from Orlando, and doesn't think to highly of the winters here. She's originally from Boston, but moved to Orlando when she was in high school.

Our local McDonalds, right down the street, has a number of Seniors, mostly older than us, on Tuesday morning for breakfast. Never seen that once in Jacksonville, however did see a small group of Seniors that met at a Hardy's in Huntersville, NC when we lived there. One such man at McDonalds, was wearing a cowboy hat, Wrangler jeans and boots. I talked to him about my rodeo days and he told me that he helps out a relative in Kansas with crops at times.

The nurse that took out my stitches this AM told me that her husband use to be a bulldogger (aka steer wrestler) in professional rodeo. I told her that I use to be in Team Roping and she knew exactly what I was talking about. Turns out her husband and I were in the same rodeo association. We never once met anyone, or even talked to anyone, in Jacksonville that had been involved in rodeo.

The winters here can be cold and snowy, but not nearly as bad as North Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota and a few other Plains States.

There was a grab bar on the wall, but I completely forgot it was there. Not anymore! We have a nice rubber mat in that tub and I hold on to the grab bar quit often. I definitely don't want to fall again!

There is one thing FOR SURE...….our apartment now isn't as big as the one we left! This complex doesn't have any "model apartments" to look at, so when we were here in July 2018, we could only drive around and look at the outside. At that time there were no cleaned/vacant apartments here either. We could see online, somewhat, what the apartment looked like, but actually seeing the inside is pretty different. My wife's bathroom is definitely smaller than the one she had. She really has no place to put some things that she had in the other bathroom in Florida. There's not a whole lot of wall space for pictures, like we had before. IOW, like already stated...…...it is a smaller apartment! Unfortunately, it's a smaller apartment, but cost more than our other 2-bedroom did.

And, all hard-wood flooring, that we are still trying to get use to. We had carpet and liked it a lot, but it can get dirty pretty fast.

So, there will be some things that we will have to get rid of.

And, one other thing, in Jacksonville, FL, our apartment was a "bungalow" type, meaning it was a 1-story built at the end of the building we lived in. We have an apartment next to us and two apartments above us. The building is a 3-story. The walls aren't that thick and we can hear our next door neighbors tv.....not terribly loud, but we can hear it. We have to remember we no longer live in the same type of apartment we did for 10 1/2 years, but even in that apartment we could sometimes hear noise in the parking lot next to our apartment in the "wee hours" of the night. Our bedroom in Florida faced the building next to us and sometimes those neighbors liked to be "night owls" on their patio (that faced our bedroom) and I'd have to grab my high-beam small flashlight, point it at their patio and let them know we were trying to sleep.

Basically here, the outside noise doesn't even exist!
