I got excited at first - read it as 'black birds' :p
Love blackbirds - master of good tunes
Anyhoo - didn't watch all of the video, but was stunned by what I saw

I am relieved to learn that blackbirds are not being black-balled, at the basin!

LA was the first utility to use the shade ball technology for water quality protection -- and it may end up being the only one. Federal rules mandated that all bodies of drinking water open to the air be covered. Floating covers provide more of a complete barrier from both sunlight and airborne contaminants.

The shade balls will remain only at Los Angeles Reservoir, and that’s because it would be cost-prohibitive -- to the tune of $250 million -- to install a floating cover on the 175-acre reservoir, which holds a total of 3.3 billion gallons of water.

Australia, Brazil and Japan are experimenting with floating solar panels.
