Lon, it seems to me that you are adept at making excuses. As Holly suggested, why not make one of your infallible "choices" to get more involved in something besides yourself?

Ya know Lon, for someone I personally deem as being intelligent, you sure do make a lot of excuses for not using that intelligence.
You learn to sign from someone else who is qualified to teach it. That person also teaches other students who would be generally younger than you. Since they are younger and learning a skill which will definitely give them a better foot hold in achieving a modicum of success, you in turn have some life experiences to share which will give them an even better chance of surviving. It’s just an idea. Go with it or not, it’s your choice.

Look, I know you do not like me and it probably goes both ways to some degree, but that dislike shouldn’t prevent you from taking a ball thrown to you and running with it or at least, act like you appreciate that someone is willing to throw you a ball.
If ya just wanna sit in a ditch, sit in it but please, do not make any excuses for doing so. Again, it’s your life choice to make. Be lonely or don’t.

Bobby, Let's get it straight OK? I make no excuses and in fact have adjusted very well to my mode of living and handle certain inconveniences intelligently.
As for not liking you. I never expressed that, but now that you have planted that thought in my head it it's a growing possibility.
I am taking my ball and going home.

@Bobby Cole quote '' A diamond is only valuable if it’s found, otherwise it just sits in dirt.'''

    Fabulous analogy, I love that!!!

Then why did you ask if everything is so hunky-dory? You asked a question and I tried to answer with total sincerity and then you decided that you didn’t want to accept the concept and moreover acted as though it was a thoroughly asinine suggestion.
If you do not really want help but just wish to have a pity party and express your mood for the day, “The Pit and the Peak” thread might be just what you need.
OOPS, sorry, didn’t mean to suggest anything........

Oh yeah, that ball you’re taking? You’re welcome.

@Lon Tanner , I remember that you had cochlear implants some time ago. Did they not help your hearing?

What kind of physical and mental shape are the residents in at the home where you live? If they are still mentally active, they would probably enjoy learning rudimentary sign language. I have a niece who is deaf and mute. Many of us have learned simple signs to communicate with her. It's kinda fun; like speaking in a secret code. You could start a secret club for y'all.

Of course, if they are all old fuddy-duddys, that won't work. Only works for fun people.

Thanks for asking Shirey. I have very limited hearing depending on the voice pitch or frequency of those I try to converse with.
My biggest disappointment is not being able to hear or play one note of music. It's just noise. I am a good survivor and will get along fine.

@Lon Tanner When you go on brief walks, do you see any birds?
You could take a camera with a telephoto lens and get some nice photos.

    Calligraphy or drawing.

Being lonely can only happen in your mind as some people in the middle of a crowd can say they are lonely.
I think every lonely person needs to take a day off of being lonely. So could you teach me how to do your job of being lonely so I can do it for you? Than you can take time off. What happens in your head? How do you know when to be lonely? Is there a trigger to know when to start being lonely. Can you teach me it sounds like it would be useful when there is company here that I am not interested in. When do you know not to be lonely is there something that is different?
Are you lonely when you sleep? If so how would you know? If you are not lonely when you are sleeping so you are not lonely 8hours a day.
If that feeling of lonely went away to-morrow how would it be different? What would you do differently?

How do you currently deal with loneliness/isolation?

Are there certain products/services you wished you had that would help a lot?

Where are you going with this? You're not thinking of selling us any products and services, are you? Hopefully not, because this is a discussion forum.
