That's pretty much what I pointed out in my opening post. Most people who think they are pro-life or pro-choice are actually anti-abortion and pro-abortion. Although it would be on-topic here, I'm not up to an argument over abortion because too many buttons are pushed for reasonable discussion to make an appearance. Of course, that's planned too. As long as the official plan is for abortion on demand, the pro-abortionists prefer to have everyone else afraid to discuss the issue. The global warmists are trying to establish much the same thing, where people are afraid to even bring up the lies and inconsistencies.

I'm sure you have facts, and not just your opinion, to make this uhhhhhh, claim. A quote from i.e. NARAL would do nicely.

@Lulu Moppet, this is a discussion forum. We offer opinions here. That's what we do. Usually, our opinions are based on facts or observations, or maybe just common sense, as we see it, and you are free to agree or disagree with them, as you wish. In fact, your assertation that an opinion is not valid unless it can be verified by an organization or expert that you recognize as valid is another part of the problem, and it plays right into my argument. Far too many people have given up their own powers of observation and reasoning to "experts" whose agendas have little or nothing to do with the truth. This allows people to be easily led. There is nothing that I said that requires a quote from a pro-abortion organization.[/USER]

I wasn't going to get involved in this, although I enjoy the debate over politics , religion and serious topics.. I'd rather sit on the sidelines and listen to the opinions.. however just one question to those who oppose Abortion...

What about babies conceived from rape or incest?... would you then change your mind about the rights of a woman or child to abort?

Thanks for clarifying that policy, Ken. Probably a good one in these times, when no one can agree on facts anymore. Best to just state your case and move on. That's what I usually do, anyway. ;)

Rape and incest account for about 99% of the arguments in favor of abortion, but less than 1% of actual abortions. It's a straw man.

@Holly Saunders most state court judges protect three things--the right of a victim of rape, of incest, and "for the health of the mother". Abortion was legal in, I believe 11 states prior to Roe v. Wade, the famous court case out of Texas. If that court decision were ever overturned, which is not imminent, it would go back to being determined by the states. I put "health of the mother" in quotes as most of the time it is the mental health of the mother rather than the physical health, as C-section not termination is usually used when the physical health of the mom is concerned. There is a famous, though suppressed, tale of the Abortion Clinic in Philadelphia that is now being made into a movie over the objections of Hollywood.

Right, while incest DOES sometimes result in pregnancy, forcible rape rarely does. It IS possible, however. The trauma of the event usually prevents implantation, but not always.

But to answer the question, I believe that it is wrong to take a human life. Not all taking of human life is equal, however. When a woman kills her abusive husband out of desperation, I believe that it is wrong for her to do so, but it's not the equivalent to someone who kills her spouse because she meets someone who she likes better or the person who rapes and then kills a child in order to keep the child from testifying. There are degrees of wrong, but there also has to be a standard; at least for myself, personally, I have to have a standard because otherwise, I'm just wallowing in mud. If I do wrong because I cannot see a viable alternative, that doesn't make it right.

George Stinney, Jr. was an African-American who was executed by electrocution in 1944. Convicted of killing two white girls (7 and 11) in March of 1944, the execution took place in June of that same year.

His conviction was vacated in 2014 when a court ruled that he had not received a fair trial. He was convicted by an all-white jury after less than ten minutes of deliberation. Of course, by the time his conviction was vacated, he had been dead for seventy years.

He was fourteen years old. He was 5'1" tall and weighed 90 pounds. In order to fit into the electric chair, he was made to sit on a Bible. The face-mask didn't fit him, so it slipped off of his face after he was hit with the first surge of electricity.

Between the time of his arrest and his execution, his parents were allowed to see him only once, after the trial.

While I am not completely against the death penalty, I feel its use should be very rare and only in cases of torture, serial or mass killing and perhaps cannibalism, and when the perpetrator is unquestionably guilty.

As everyone knows from an earlier argument on here I am pro choice but that does not mean that abortion is a means of birth control.

I'm pretty sure it's an agonizing decision for most woman...yes, there are probably a few that just use it as birth control but I think you are wrong Ken in assuming pro choice is pro abortion.

I'd rather have a fetus that has no brain function aborted than to see that child put in the dumpster at birth or beat to death in a couple years by some boyfriend of the mom or both of them together.

That child already knew life....a 16 week old fetus does not.

No, I never had an abortion ...nor would I but I want to have that choice.

To me it's much crueler what unwanted babies go thru than the alternative.

Also...everyone that knows me knows I love babies more than anything....

I had this saved in my photos..don't know the source or if it's even accurate but I thought it was and made sense to me...I'm sure some will dispute it...I'm not going argue it though.

I think that even if abortion were made illegal again, it would not be a good thing, nor would it help anything; we could simply be back to the days of illegal (and deadly) abortions.
I agree that no woman should have to become a broodmare, and bear children when she does not want to have them. However, I also think that (as Chrissy mentioned)using abortion as birth control is totally wrong, and a terrible thing, especially since they then sell the body parts, making abortion a business basically.
If a woman has an abortion as soon as she misses a period and knows she is pregnant, I do not think that is anywhere near the same thing as waiting until the baby is almost fully developed, and then having one.

Some birth control methods actually work that way, and I remember my mother telling me about a vaginal insert tablet that was used after you missed your period and it was a normal method of contraception back then, she said.
Women have for centuries used contraceptive herbs to abort unwanted pregnancies, as well, and I totally agree with @Chrissy Cross that letting an unwanted child (or one that can’t be taken care of) be born and later die from abuse or neglect, is a far worse thing than terminating a pregnancy.
