I have PT on Tuesday & Thursday mornings. I just finished my session and am relaxing in my Lazy Boy Recliner. I am exhausted after each session.

I had it for my left shoulder last year....twice a week...arm was also frozen, meaning my range of motion wasn't what it should be.

    PT fixed that.

This is where my PCP sent me....

Insurance covered it except for a small co pay of $10 each session I think.

My PT is completely covered by insurance as well and is done here at our Assisted Living Fitness Center. I take PT for Rheumatoid Arthritis & Peripheral Neuropathy in both legs and feet.

    Lon,

I know I'm being nosy and you don't need to answer.

Does the need for physical therapy allow you to use your long-term care insurance or are you still required to self-pay for your living arrangements?

I pay. For LTC to pay you must require help with one or more of the following . bathing dressing getting in and out of bed .eating. grooming.

I am tired. It was only a 45 minute class for our stiff and balance problem residents. Class was conducted by a Physical Therapy company 3 times weekly. Stretching exercises in class and done alone are a big help

If need be, we have the Wii Game for exercise, but with summer here, and our boat almost ready for the water, our exercise will come launching/retrieving it.

Besides that, I can still put on my Wrangler jeans, pajama bottoms and underwear briefs, standing up. So, I still have good enough balance to do that.

It is good indeed that you have immediate access to such a class.
I think the stat is that a senior is being treated for a fall about every 11 seconds in the U.S. but it doesn’t have to be that way.
According to one trainer who works with seniors at the gym we go to, there’s more to balance than just a middle ear thing but rather, a whole body experience that has to be rejuvenated.
For most, it’s a matter of getting off our wrinkled rear ends and onto our sore feet and doing something other than sitting around.

My goodness, the way some of the seniors wobble around when they first start taking classes at the gym compared to just a few weeks later, they’re almost ready to take a field sobriety test.

I Get therapy on my left arm and leg for Lymphedema and my therapist tells me that I have used all my Medicare allowance and will have to pay to continue.

Yeah, I’ve seen that happen to a few folks and I’ve also seen some of them remedy that situation.
You already know what the therapist does and what you do during therapy so what is to prevent you from going through the same motions?
It’s a given that a therapist has value but once a routine has been established, a therapist acts more like a motivational trainer.

If you have access to a pool, perhaps getting in and working those areas nice and slow might help also.

I hate that about insurance. It's not like health needs stop just because some arbitrary policy says it won't pay anymore. Hate feeling trapped in a system that cuts you off when treatments are actually working. Ugh!

Lymphedema requires a specialized type of massage therapy to move and drain the excess lymph and reduce swelling. I'm very sorry that Lon has to deal with lymphedema; it is a terrible debilitating condition. Honestly I'm surprised that there is any limit on therapy for a medical condition so it may be that Lon needs to have a doctor change billing codes or something.
