Since you already have high pressure in your eyes, it is quite possible that your extreme stressing about this is what is causing this to keep happening.
When we talked about this before, you said that your doctor does the tests for macular degeneration, and that when you called him , he said that you do not have this, and that you do not need to worry about it.

Probably, if you had not had that chart to look at that scared you at first, you would not be noticing anything at all, because you didn’t notice it before you had the chart that is supposed to show macular degeneration.
I know that it is hard not to stress about something as important as our eyesight, but try to think this through.
An eye problem like this does not just appear overnight, it develops gradually, so you would have been noticing symptoms before you took the eye test if something were actually affecting your vision, and your doctor would have seen it when you were there recently. You said you go every three months, so if something were developing, he would have found it.

Just stress and fear can cause vision abnormalities. When we are afraid or stressed, we produce lots of adrenaline, and that will affect our vision.
Every time you see those wavy lines, you are already stressed, so at this point, there is no way that you can even try looking to see what your vision is doing without being stressed.

Try to remember that none of this was an issue for you up until you got that eye chart and thought that it showed you that you had macular degeneration.
You never mentioned any vision problems like this before, and your only eye concern was the mild cataracts.
If this is being caused by your stress, there is not much likelihood that it is going to disappear as long as you are still stressed and producing all of that adreneline, @Chrissy Cross .

Maybe, if you call your eye doctor again, and explain to him what is happening, he can see you sooner than November, and test your eyes again, or at least reassure you that this is a stress-induced problem.
Read this little article that explains about stress affecting our vision. There are other articles on the internet that will help explain it as well.
I am adding my prayers for your recovery and a good resolution to this, Chrissy, and also sending you a HUG !

I have an appt in November...I had one also in July, dr didn't mention anything then...but that was not my annual thorough checkup...just checking eye pressure and looking behind my eye or whatever they do..plus vision.

    I go every 3-4 months.

Thanks @Yvonne Smith ....my dr didn't personally say on the phone that I don't have macular degeneration but in all my exams prior he didn't say I did.

The receptionist said that if I'm not experiencing pain or light flashes to keep my nov appt

When I called again...she said the same thing.

Chrissy, it sounds to me like a big floater, or floaters. They can distort vision and make things look wavy. They are more common at our age, and usually not serious, but in rare cases can be.

I can't believe your doctor doesn't want to see you sooner. Mine tells me to come in immediately if I notice anything unusual about vision. I think you should call him/her and try to get an appointment now. If for nothing else, just to put your mind at rest if it turns out to be nothing.

I agree with this. If there is something wrong, then he can treat it, and if there is nothing wrong, then you can stop stressing about it. If you keep calling them, they should give you an appointment to come in sooner.

I'll try....I do have floaters though and have for a long time.

My vision is normal otherwise...nothing is wavy with two eyes open.

I just called and talked for awhile with his receptionist...they have nothing open but kept reassuring me that I have nothing to worry about unless I'm seeing flashes of light, a curtain coming down or pain.....and if I see ok with both eyes open, it's maybe a vision change or something.

She said she'll have his tech call me later today...

I think this is the third time you've called now - see what the tech has to say then

Yes, she saw I called before..I also told her how anxious this is making me...

Could also be that insurance won't cover more than 4,eye exams a year.

I think they would tell you that rather than 'miss' something that needs attention

Hopefully, the appointment this morning will help you to see things in a better perspective, and at least you now have an eye doctor appointment so you can get the answer to whatever is going on.

So pleased to hear that - you finally got somewhere, you need the answer to rest your mind as I'm sure it will be OK for you

She actually described it better...it's more of a bump than a wavy line.

Sentence starts out ok, then there's a slight bump.
