I have patience too, but I don't spend that much time outside unless I'm doing something.

My Honey is always doing something outside...he'd live out there if he could! :) He's got the Blue Jays letting him know when he has to buy more peanuts now. They will come right up on the porch rail and fuss at him if he hasn't put them out some peanuts in a couple of days. And he has a lizard he named BugEata that comes and sits right on his coffee container and smiles at him. :)

Life with my Honey is never boring that's for sure. :)

I drove a nail through a board then put a sweet potato on the nail for my squirrels to eat. So far, no takers.

One thing I have noticed - well, actually, I have noticed more than one thing in my life, but the one thing I was going talk about - is that when I put corn on the cob out for the squirrels that we have bought at the local grocery store (Hannaford), they mostly ignore it. Yet, when I put some out that we had bought from the farm, they ate it up quickly. When I bought some dried corn, intended as squirrel food, they aren't too excited about it either.

Probably, and it may have been the one that knocked Bubba off the tree - twice. He treed the squirrel, then thought he could go up and get it, and that didn't work out so well for him. I don't know if it actually hit him. I think it just startled him when it advanced toward him, coming down toward him headfirst.

When I was a kid, there was a squirrel that used to taunt our fox terrier (Patch) something fierce.

It would hang on the side of the tree just out of reach of Patch.
It would dash across the yard from one tree to the next, and again run maybe 4-5 feet up the tree, turn around and give Patch the squirrel version of the middle finger.

You gotta understand that this was a non-neutered male fox terrier that would dig up what seemed like miles of mole tunnels, and when he finally got one of the critters, was so worked up that he would shake it in his mouth so vigorously it would literally rip in half. Patch just never gave up.

So one day the squirrel was up to his usual tricks, and you could just tell that the dog was getting really, really pissed. With perfect timing, the squirrel ran down the tree and dashed for the other one with the dog just inches behind him. This time you could tell the dog was not going to let up.

Patch must have been doing 30 when he crashed head-on into the other tree! He bounced off and sat there dazed, taking a while to come back to reality, much to the delight of the squirrel.

Just to show how smart and ready to learn squirrels really are. The vid is a bit long but for entertainment’s sake, well worth it.
